Death is scary Though, I'm sure I'm not the first one to have this thought. But, I was in the shower earlier. And I had time to think. And I was thinking about the finality of death. Sure, I've seen some examples of death where the person dying is at peace. But, I don't really know how one could consciously welcome death unless you're really convinced there's something afterwards. I guess even if there's nothing afterwards, then I won't have to worry about the nothingness. But those last few moments would surely be frightening not knowing what's coming next, if anything at all. Do you think you'll be able to make peace when it's your time? (Sorry if this is macabre... I usually keep myself busy with TV shows so I don't think about stuff lik

"Trolling" PSA Hey y'all. I felt compelled to post a "Trolling" Public Service Announcement (PSA). It might be common sense for some folks. And I'm sure others don't care. But, I've been with this website for a while so I thought I'd just lend this advice to help some members of our community. So, I've recently seen a few threads that people call "trolling." Examples: 1 & 2 Here's the thing... take a look at most of the comments. Everyone's acknowledging the thread starter as a troll. It's as if people are trying to quickly warn others to not fall for the (OBVIOUS) lies that are posted by the thr

Tipping with a Gift Card I know tipping is a touchy subject. So try to avoid having an enormous debate on the general ethics of it if you can. I have a scenario for you. Let's say you're at a (fancier) restaurant with a friend and you ordered an appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts... and the bill totaled to about $80. But you have a $50 gift card. You hand the waiter your $50 gift card along with your debit/credit card to pay for the rest of the bill. The waiter returns with a receipt for you to sign and add tip. But this bill says $30. Let's say that the waiter had good service and you're willing to give a 20% tip. Given that tips are generally based on percent of bill... do you tip the waiter 20% of $30 (which would be $6) or 2

Why watch movies in theaters? I'm a bit of a spendthrift. And as ticket prices have risen in recent years, I find myself going to the movies less and less. In fact, I much more enjoy watching movies (Bluray or 3D Bluray) at home. I have a great stereo system and a big 3D HDTV. No noisy strangers. No annoying kid kicking the back of my chair. I can eat whatever I have at my house. I can get as comfy as I want on my couch. I can hit pause if I need a restroom break. The list goes on. I'm not saying that I never go to the movies. Some movies are worth it. But, I have to REALLY want to see them. And it has to make sense to see them at the theater too (what I mean is, there must be a specific reason for wanting to view it on a larger screen or w

Bachelor Party ideas TONY if you are reading this STOP RIGHT NOW! *ahem* Okay. So, one of my best friends is getting hitched in a few months. And I've been asked to be in the wedding as a groomsman. We wanna throw the guy a bachelor party. We've narrowed down some ideas of things we think he'd like. But I won't post them here since the groom, Tony, actually plays Maplestory and might actually read this thread at some point. But to the point... have you gone to a bachelor party before? What are the things that guys would like in a bachelor's party?
