Coulombs Law and Atomic Radius So, I understand that atomic radius gets smaller in groups as you go right, but I was wondering if this explanation is good when trying to use coulomb's law to explain it: The atomic radius gets smaller as you move right in a group because of the inverse relation of charge strength and distance with electric charges as stated in Coulomb's law. As you get higher in atomic number across a group, the effective nuclear charge is stronger on the valence electrons and as a result, they are pulled closer to the nucleus. I have a test upcoming and I was wanting to know if this is sufficient or if there is anything I can do to improve it, thanks!
