Shirobako Special So each SHIROBAKO bluray comes with a live-action special where Juri Kimura (Miyamori's VA) interviews PA Works staff. Somebody decided to sub the first one where she interviews PA Works' president and founder, Kenji Horikawa. It's a short 11 minute thing, covers a bit on different responsibilities of producers, how PA Works handles its production processes with offices in both Toyama and Tokyo, and ties back into the show with some questions about Miyamori and what Horikawa wants to convey through the series. If you're liking SHIROBAKO for the semi-educational parts I'd definitely recommend it and any subsequent specials (if they get subbed). Kimura also has really cute hand motions when she's talking, haha.

Kiseijuu anime Character Designs Promo image and character sheets for Shinichi, Migi, and Murano Weirdly enough, the parasite Migi is being voiced by Aya Hirano. This is definitely a departure from the source in terms of design, but honestly it is really growing on me. Had some initial disappointment bc it really feels like compromising artistic integrity/accuracy just for mass appeal, but the designs still look good. Kind of evokes 2000's Gainax and Birdy Decode, and I can see tells and expressions in the char sheets that correspond to the manga. So obv I'm still hype, what does the rest of /90/ think?

Barakamon - Your Feel-good Aots Not sure how many people have gotten around to seeing this yet, but it's a damn shame there's so little discussion of it on here. Barakamon occupies the same space in my heart with series like Gin no Saji, Yotsubato, and Chihayafuru. It takes an unconventional (and ancient) subject, calligraphy, and chooses to explore that through characters in a laid-back atmosphere filled equally with humor and heartwarming. Having heard good things and skimming some pages of the manga, I couldn't have known just how great the first episode would turn out to be. The same atmosphere as GnS, with a struggling and emotionally/artistically stunted MC changing himself by changing his surroundings. His idea of stewing in seclusio

Hitoshi Iwaakis Parasyte Parasyte is an award-winning, early/mid 90's manga about a race of parasitic aliens that invade the Earth and take over humans. It follows a boy named Shinichi Izumi who, due to coincidence, is only partially taken over by a parasite. Along with "Migi," the parasite in his right hand, he has to maintain his normal school and family life while keeping Migi secret and avoiding/fighting other parasites. It's hard for me to create a super concise summary that details every angle of the series, but I certainly recommend it. The parasites don't exist as an absolute source of evil, nor is fighting them the primary goal. They are emotionless creatures driven by reason, instinct, and a need to consume humans
