He probably wasn't hacking. He was probably pulling mobs but your crap computer wasn't rendering fast enough. Hence it looking like he was pulling mobs from the full map and you crashing

They nerfed the boxes so unless the semi-restore them, you'll have to play nearly every day until the event ends and get around 1000 boxes a day
