It's no longer your story
When I first joined Maplestory, I liked the concept that it was YOUR
story since it had no one BOSS to overcome. First there was Mushmom,
then Jr. Rog, and the successive bosses; no TRUE boss of the Mapleworld.
It was YOUR story.
Now we have Black Mage. Because of them, the LEGENDS & RESISTANCE
classes came out. More classes are dedicated to the Black Mage than to the
original game! Maplestory is no longer YOUR story b/c it's become all about
Black Mage & the struggle to bring him down, whether you actively participate
or sit around the FM trading / chatting / hanging out.
It's the end of the Maple world as you know ... veteran Maplers cried!

It's still your story, how you take your part. Besides I'm pretty sure the black mage was always there, just lack of emphasis. He's somehow "come back".
i will still live my own story, may the CKs, Legends and Resistance kill that bad guy; i'm a veteran Adventurer who lives his own story
Uhh, if you want someone a long the lines of a story just play Fable or something..
Dude...You create the resistance char, You controll it and do things the ways and at times You want...It will always be Your story, ur just involved in the dimension the story folds out...=]

i like the game but in my opinion you cant have a serious story with cartoon little Ewoks (we)
its sorta fun thinking about a ewok in a fight to the death with a black mage XD
well ewok cuz maple chars are short with big heads...

I thought people stopped making these self pitty "im a maple veteran" threads months ago, its a game. games change. get over it.
I don't think that the absence of a story is what makes it "yours", however, I am very disappointed with the newer storyline following the black mage. I think that the style of the game should be better defined and play more into the book theme...
Black mage=lord voldemort, Black wings=death eaters...throw in some painfully generic characters, like a dragon master/a man with amnesia, and you've got maplestory ._.
It's still YOUR story. Just don't fight Black Mage when he comes out. Problem solved. So much derp these days...

You know you still have exactly what you said right? There's no one bossing you around. You can still do what ever you want. It's still YOUR story. Annnnyways don't fret to much, just wait a few weeks till you adjust to BigBang. Atleast than you can say you gave it a fair try before claming it to be well...idk what you claimed it to be. Give it a fair shot, I'm sure you'll come around.
I couldn't care less about the Black Mage.
This is my story and he's just going to have to deal with it.

Maplestory has been out since 2004, when it was in Beta.
Beta testers ARE veterans.

Though it was devoid of punctuation, it was still a good point. Besides, no one said you had to make them just to fight the Black Mage. They'll probably have a "Fight the Black Mage" quest for adventurer characters too. Just enjoy it, and have fun! That was the whole point from the start.
It can be our [i]collective[/i] story [b]and[/b] our [i]individual[/i] stories. No one said we had to choose.
If its not really "your story", then maybe Nexon should just dispense with all cosmetic items, custom igns, free travel, events, etc, and change you into some ugly warrior named Superiorph who can only move through maps to the right, constantly killing of hordes of monsters and does nothing else.
Seriously, the fact that the game is free roaming and gives you the ability to self-customize makes it personal enough. Realistically, only 1/1000th of the players will ever face the "final boss", and with so much else to do, why is that even relevant?
It is still YOUR story since you STILL CONTROL IT!

It's still my story. I don't plan to do anything I don't WANT to do. That includes abandoning my characters to make any of the new "class of the week" that might come out.
