Kanna - Fantastic fan user

Introduction

Hello, my name is Suzy. I'm a mage fanatic and long term Maplestory player. I apologize for these incredibly bad puns. I couldn't help myself. Due to the absence of a guide in the Kanna section, I decided to finish up on this little work in progress guide I had lying around in my scraps for a long time. I added in the main concerns like the skill builds and general information. If you feel I should expand on something, feel free to suggest it. Also, if you think I'm wrong about anything, I'd really appreciate it if you corrected me.

^1. Mark of Honor, Kanna
Kanna is the newly introduced mage based class in our game Maplestory. She was introduced by the Japanese version of our game alongside the Hayato class, in the Mark of Honor patch. Here in GMS, we have received Kanna on the 27th of Februari during the first part of the Mark of Honor patch. Unlike JMS, which got Kanna in the final part.

Kanna uses a two handed weapon, namely a fan. She is the first mage class to not use a one handed weapon in the history of our game. Alongside her, she has her spirit fox Haku. Haku provides Kanna with additional buffs.

^2. Storyline
2.1 Mark of Honor
Many hundreds of years ago, there was a time of peace.

The Great Diviner of that time, Abeno Seimei, had a premonition that, at some point, an entity would appear, wielding the power of the 6th Sky Demon King, and threaten the entire land of Japan.

Time had passed in the world of Sengoku. Just as predicted, a man by the name of Oda Nobunaga appeared, calling himself the 6th Sky Demon King. With an overwhelming military force, the world of Sengoku was seized into hegemony in the blink of an eye. In order to be reborn into the 6th Sky Demon King, Nobunaga went to Honnoji to perform the ritual of the Demon King's Descendant.

However, Abeno Seimei had a premonition that foretold that 5 skilled men would rise to oppose Nobunaga.

From then on, they would be called the "Children of Five Stars", and they would be burdened to carry the fate of opposing the threat of Oda Nubunaga over the entire nation of Japan. A mark would be printed somewhere on each their bodies to show proof of their heavenly bodies.

A skilled swordsman by the name of "Hayato" and an exorcist by the name of "Kanna" joined with the military forces for the sake of preventing the ritual of the Demon King's Descendant. They were the "Children of Five Stars" who would carry the stars of fate in their bodies and carry out their duty of defeating Oda Nobunaga.

2.2 Kanna
Japan
June 21, 1582
Honnou-ji in Kyoto

After years of turmoil, Oda Nobunaga finally seized control of Japan, but his desire for power only grew. He sought immortality, and the temple of Honnou-Ji would bring it to him. He prepared an ancient ritual of reincarnation that would see him reborn as The Sixth Sky Demon King, but word of the ritual got out, and the feudal lords stormed Honnou-ji to stop Nobunaga while it was still possible. In the end, a young Spirit Walker named Kanna disrupted the ritual, and the would-be dark lord's plans crumbled around him.

But victory came at a cost. Just as the ritual was disrupted, a great pillar of light lurched forth from the temple and transported everyone to a strange world. Now, Kanna must conquer this strange place and regain lost strength and allies in order to stop the dark ambitions of Nobunaga's followers!

Results:
Everything is maxed.

Explanation:
From my personal experience, I found that a completely unfunded character (Excluding some character cards) was already one hitting all of he monsters in the beginning area. Therefore there is no real need to focus on your attacking skills right now.

You add one point in each of your skills and continue to max out Ether Pulse. Ether Pulse is wonderful even though a bit slow compared to other teleport skills. It is a combination of Dragon Blink, Teleport and Teleport Mastery. Probably the best teleport any mage can imagine.

After Ether Pulse you should either focus on maxing out Shikigami Haunting, as it is your main attacking skill throughout the entire game, or you max out Center Ki to have both of your attacking skills buffed.

Finally, you max out Clay Yaksha. From personal experience I must say that using Clay Yaksha was a bit of a bother. The range it has is rather small and the attacking speed is not too fast. I barely even used it. Perhaps this is different for others, however my suggestion is to not really give it too much attention.

Results:
Haku Reborn: MAX
Radiant Peacock: MAX
Soul Bomb: MAX
Nimbus Curse: MAX
Shikigami Charm: MAX
Burning Shikigami Haunting: MAX
Rock Yaksha: 19

Explanation:
We start off with some of your new attacking skills. Even though nearly everything has a cooldown, you'll find them very useful. Burning Shikigami Haunting isn't quite that important right now, but the passive damage boost makes it worth getting one skill point onto it. After this I suggest you get Radiant Peacock to level 6, before you start on Haku Reborn. You can also choose to just go for Haku Reborn first, it doesn't matter that much. We max out Haku Reborn pretty early on because it gives you 3 separate buffs rather than just one. 3 skills maxed in 1, seems like a good choice don't you think?

After Haku Reborn I continue to max out Radiant Peacock. You can ignore this if you're in need of your other skills more damage wise. I don't like rebuffing all too often so I decided to just max it out. Seeing as nothing else but the time it lasts changes, you can save this for later. Soul Bomb is a nifty extra bit of damage and the skill has a low mastery level, so I got that out of the way early on.

Now that we've gotten most of the lower level skills and buffs out of the way, we can move on to the attacking skills. Like I said before, Burning Shikigami Haunting isn't really that important. So we continue with Nimbus Curse. A lovely mini ultimate that certainly has a charm of its own disregarding the cool down. Personally I've continued using this skill till after I hit 4th job. It has a wider range than Shikigami Charm, therefore I decided to max it out before that. After Nimbus curse I went for Shikigami charm, then Burning Shikigami Haunting and finally Rock Yaksha. I'm not really fond of the Yaksha attacks because they're rather slow. You can throw around the order of the skills you max out to your own liking, though I suggest you leave Burning Shikigami Haunting and Rock Yaksha till the very last.

Results:

Spirit Path: MAX
Kishin Shoukan: MAX
Spirit Corral: MAX
Tengu Strike: MAX
Frozen Shikigami Haunting: MAX
Soul Shear: MAX
Blossom Barrier: MAX
Demon's Fury: 9

Explanation:
A very similar pattern to the second job. You add into your new attacking skills, you add into Shikigami haunting for the passive boost and then you proceed to max out some buffs and passives. Lifeblood Ritual and Spirit Path are pretty quickly maxed out and they have quite the effects on you. A low potion usage thanks to Lifeblood Ritual and a pretty large m.atk and critical boost thanks to Spirit Path.

After that all, we continue to the most useful skill a Kanna probably has, Kishin Shoukan. Kishin Shoukan increases the spawn in a map. It works less effective if you're on a rope, but still has effects. So setting it up somewhere in your map while you're attacking, is great. After maxing this out, I continue to go for Spirit Corral. Now a lot of people might argue that Tengu Strike is better to be maxed out first, but Spirit Corral hits a few more targets than Tengu Strike. This is personal preference on my side. You could say that thanks to the Lightning, Tengu Strike should be maxed out first. I leave this entirely up to you.

Everything else is pretty straight forward. You max out Shikigami Haunting, Soul Shear and Blossom Barrier. You leave Demon's fury at 9 because it's nothing more than a really entertaining skill to look at.

Explanation:
We start off with Kasen because it's the largest boost in your damage and because it's passive. Afterwards just like we did a few jobs back, we max out Haku. Once again, Haku provides us with several buffs even though we're only maxing out one skill. For once, we will immediately max out the new Shikigami Haunting skill. This time it's actually useful in the earlier levels of your job.

I proceed with Monkey Spirits for the item drop rate chance, extra EXP chance and just the general extra damage it might do. This is followed by Bellflower Barrier and Binding Tempest. Both of these skills are extremely useful when it comes to bossing. It's around here that you might also want to consider adding at least one point into Blossoming Dawn (Hero's Will). I left it somewhere at the end of the build, but you might want to add at least one point to it earlier. I'll leave that decision entirely up to you and your bossing habits. Binding Tempest is maxed out earlier on due to the ability of binding bosses. Which is quite useful and wanted.

After this all I max out Orochi. I feel it's more useful than Falling Sakura due to it's wide range, though you might want to switch them up. That's your choice. Before maxing out the second AoE skill I went for Maple Warrior. Kanna has it at level 30 standard, meaning that you don't have to waste a lot of money on it. Finally I finish up with the other AoE skill, Hero's Will and the last skill, Vanquisher's Charm. Personally, I have never used Vanquisher's Charm and I feel as if it's a bit... useless.
