Hourly wage of a newbie animator is around 1 dollar 'A newbie animator in Japan gets paid around 120 yen - that's one, yes, one dollar - an hour. That's the word from animator and character designer Sachiko Kamimura (City Hunter, Arslan) in a recent blog post where she appeals for the industry to change its ways. Twenty years ago it might've been possible to draw enough frames to earn a decent living, she writes, but that's impossible with the style of today's anime, which requires

Reminder that Canadian E3 30% off promotion ends today For Best Buy, where pre-ordering 3+ games gets you 30% off each, and pre-ordering 1-2 games gets you 15% off. Not too bad, considering pretty much every $40 game in Canada now costs $45 thanks to our Canadian dollar being bleh. Amazon has a similar promotion going on, but I believe Best Buy has more games listed that are eligible. All I wanted was Pokemon for me and a friend, so it didn't really matter which we went to. :>

When asked if new games for the Wii U was a priority, Sakurai laughed. Iwata commented that the Wii U was a major failure, similar to how the PS Vita was a major failure for Sony. Sakurai joked that it was interesting how Nintendo is losing on the home console side, whereas Sony is losing on the handheld side of things. Iwata says that it's no coincidence, and that both companies have different goals an
