Hayao Miyazaki vs Walt Disney I think it's pretty obvious - Hayao Miyazaki wins hands down. I realize some may say I should post this in the anime section...maybe the art section...but I'm putting emphasis on not just anime, not just film...nor even art...but on the entire cultural zeitgeist that represents the entire oeuvre / paradigm either of these two people...if not created at least coddled forcibly into existence. Walt Disney was first...so he has that to his credit. But I do not think he was the most accomplished or creative. Hayao Miyazaki was and is. There seems to be an archetype where a subject matter has (at least) two very important points: the creator...and the first-ish person to really explode it with creativity. People will

When did you realize you were gay/straight? This is prolly not even a conscious thought or realization of importance to most people. The word afterthought comes to mind. Maybe I'm not even indicative of what I think I am...but idk and that's part of why I'm posting this. Unlike a lot of things I post...I'm genuinely unsure of where I am in the whole mess. Hmm. Anyways. I've said before that I'm essentially only into girls. Idk how deep that runs...I just know that as yet I've not really been in a relationship with a male that I felt went both ways, me participating with my all. Hmm. So yeah, I remember waaaaaaay back...my first ever crush was on a female character in an anime. Then it happened again and again. I didn't even know that was od

Anne Frank =/= WW2. A poem of my frustration with N.America (If you wanna skip my potentially biased attempt to provide a contextual basis for my poem, skip to the veryberry bottom.) Wrote a silly poem to address my frustration with the way N. American notions of real, dangerous situations are hijacked by silly social workers & bleeding, uninformed, hearts that mean well. Sorry, but a joke about a black guy & watermelon does NOT have any meaningful...not even tangentially insofar as preventive measures are relevant...connection with race based industrial genocide (massive rooms + hole in ceiling -> herd them in, lock the doors and toss in Zyklon B. Wait an hour, then clean up the thousands of dead bodies jammed like modern art sc

Current Favourite Eng Poem Song of the Open Road By Walt Whitman 1 Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road, Healthy, free, the world before me, The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose. Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune, Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing, Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms, Strong and content I travel the open road. The earth, that is sufficient, I do not want the constellations any nearer, I know they are very well where they are, I know they suffice for those who belong to them. (Still here I carry my old delicious burdens, I carry them, men and women, I carry them with me wherever I go, I swear it is impossible for me to

Islam and Ummah I got distracted at the beginning and went on a tangent. I get back on topic tho. . I was trolling some Arabs out of Saudi Arabia once regarding their presentation of historically and culturally inaccurate facts (holocaust deniers shoveling out references to an imagined genocide against the German people. It doesn't take much digging to realize that the terror bombing imposed by the USA and Britain, while ugly, was far from 'evil.' One need consider only two facts - the mechanical know how to strategically bomb any country effectively was simply not there. In light of the situation Germany had put Britain in, essentially trapped on their island while Hitler, etc, sought to blockade the entire country into a state of strategi
