Bethesda E3 thoughts So Bethesda got to kick off the awkward-on-stage fest known as E3 tonight. It just finished (he's wrapping it up now) and am curious what the other [i]lovely[/i] people here on basil think about what they showcased. The games they showed + my quick thoughts: [*]Doom 4 - Went back to the roots of how Doom's gameplay originally was. I was hoping for a terrifying slaughterfest but to me it looked like a very flashy hell-themed Quake/Unreal Tournament. I wish they'd ram up the pace further and make the game scarier than what they showed us. I'll definitely buy it though. Looks good... but not great. Ffxiv Rng rant 90% Synthesis Success Rate my ass. 150 Darksteel Ores, 3 ores per Darksteel Nugget, and I only managed to make 15. All of the failures were because the 90% failed. Heavensward first impressions? So I've played it for about 8 hours since the servers went up. I love most of it so far. A lot of the things that didn't impress me wound up really blowing me away, and the stuff that did impress me was more of a slight letdown. My biggest issues being the new equips and ilevel curve. The expansion totally devalued everything from 2.0. A Wootz set cost 1-1.5m per equip and it's only 110, yet the Npc shops sell i115 equips for 15k a piece. Ironworks and Demon armor is doo doo now as far as I can tell. And don't get me started on Zodiacs... Outside of that I LOVE everything else. The Story Behind Ffxiv Today is our last day of the "A Realm Reborn" 2.x era. Tomorrow is going to be a 24 hour maintenance, and then Friday we will all be in 3.0 "Heavensward". Recently I found out the full story behind XIV and A Realm Reborn and it blew my mind. It's a pretty incredible behind-the-scene video game story and I think it would be good to educate the others who don't know if it, as a farewell to our 2.0 version and as a hello to the new Heavensward version. Good gaming headsets ps4 Looking for some really good headsets for Ps4. Good bass/treble and a nice and clear mic. Wireless of course. My budget is 150$ but I don't wanna push that far unless quality spikes and would be more comfortable with 120$ region. Ether One free game So Playstation+ is giving this out for free this month. I was really let down by Never Alone (glitchy and very uninteresting imo) so I wasn't expecting much this time around because of that experience. Mind = Blown. This game is SOOOOO good so far. Puzzle/Psychological game that, for some odd reason, reminds me a lot of Bioshock. Super atmospheric and very interesting [i]thus far[/i]... I'm really loving the game so far and am happy enough to promote it like this, so if anyone out there has PS+ or is looking for a good Puzzle/Psychological check it out.
E3 and Vr for this year It's probably going to be a big year for Virtual Reality. Sony will def talk about Morpheus, Oculus just finished talking about big plans and a partnership with Microsoft, a big lineup of good games this year as well. What is basil's thoughts on VR? I'm super excited! I haven't tried it yet but it sounds really neat. People are tossing the words "gimmick" around and saying it's going to fail like motion controls but I don't think this is a gimmick. I see it as a way for people to play video games; maybe not the dominant way where everyone only plays VR, but more so that people will prefer the headset if they have the time (because I can see it being a pain in the butt if you have to keep taking the goggles
Ffxiv Story length *Possible slight spoilers* Well I wanna spend these next two weeks getting all caught up on my story mode so I have access to the Heavensward content. I've already beaten the ARR story (Ultima) ams am just a little bit past it into the after story. I just renewed my sub this morning and in a few hours got from doing guildhests for the Mor Dhona Adventurers Guild all the way to just after chasing the White Robed Ascian after he talked with Minfilia. How many hours of the story do I have left? My friends say I still have a really long ways to go but want to know how much that is. I play about 3-5 hours per day and was hoping to know if I can finish or get close to finishing before Heavensward release day.

Ps4 didn't get squat though outside of Outlast unless you really like Peggle or Nidhogg. Ps3 was the real winner though with games like Mad Effect Trilogy for $4.80 Amd Okami and Borderlands 2 (with tons of others).

Mirrors Edge 2 hype? I loved the first one to death and even now it seems like not enough people are even aware of this game's existence. After hearing the early 2016 release date announcement today for Mirror's Edge 2 I couldn't help but get all antsy and happy during work today lol. I often go back on youtube and listen to the soundtrack a lot because it's AMAZING and every time I get a huge rush of nostalgia and chills. Favorite Heavensward Bgm? I've had the pleasure of experiencing them all except the A4 final boss theme (listened to it on YT though!) and wow this soundtrack is freaking AMAZING!
