Vista eats C: Hey Basilers, I'll start by saying I'm not very computer-savvy and admitting that there's a 9 GB Unreal Anthology which my younger brother who owns a significantly more powerful computer put on my C drive (which I'd have moved that wouldn't have taken 23 hours and my dear sibling hadn't lost the CD >.< ). My laptop's always been having some trouble handling Windows Vista, but I'm now having a real problem; Vista or at least something is growing so quickly that my C drive will fill up within a year even if I remove the Anthology. One year ago I had 25 GB of space, including that Anthology, right now I have only 4.6 GB left, while I haven't manually added anything except the drivers and Bamboo Dock for my Wacom and

Click of Death or "Lenovo click"? Hey Basilers, Three weeks ago I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad G50-70 that'll replace my old Toshiba L300-1BD. The Toshiba's HDD has bad sectors and is preparing its departure to Computer Heaven. Faulty hard drives often start clicking. Well, here comes the irony. Toshiba: 5 bad clusters and everything's noisy except the HDD Lenovo: Supposedly fine, but *clickztwhoosh clickztwhoosh clickztclickztwhoosh clickztwhoosh clickztwhoosh* I checked the status of both computers' disks through S.M.A.R.T. and though the Toshiba is clearly terminally ill ("STATUS" and "Warning, Reallocated Sector Count 5", respectively), the Lenovo is "OK", "Good, "excellent" and &

Stablising my Internet connection Hi Basilers, As the title of my thread already suggests I'm having troubles with my Internet connection. Its speed is fine, but I disconnect literally every minute. Watching YouTube videos takes ages, when BIMing or MSNing I constantly fade in and out and when Mapling I D/C before I've managed to leave town, sometimes I don't even manage to log in. I sometimes have to reset the modem to get my Internet back. Very inconvenient. I can't connect my laptop and modem with a cable because the modem is on the ground floor and I'm in the attic. :| The modem can't be moved because it also provides us with TV (for the record: when the TV is off it's equally as unstable as when it's on). I use a secured connection, so

External hard drive jams Hey Basilers, I'm not looking for a fix, I'd just like to know if my hard drive can still be saved. :( I have a 2 TB External hard drive by Freecom. I had to have the casing replaced about 3 weeks ago because the USB jack had come off. It came back with a solid case with USB 2.0 (nice, very robust) and didn't have any problems whatsoever. Today the thing was defragmenting just fine when I left home for Karate, but when I got home it wasn't running any more. When unplugged it and plugged it back in it started running normally, until it said "crk crrrick" after about 5 seconds and slowly stopped. It happens every time I try to turn it on. It doesn't make any additional noise, just those two clicks. It's like
