My theory on why there are more smart Asians than dumb ones NOTE: I'm a 17 year old Asian living in Australia. :) And before replying, I suggest you actually read my thread (it'll take you a maximum of 2 minutes) unless you want to make yourself look stupid. But I'm really impressed by the responses I've been reading... A lot of really insightful people here on Basil! Have you ever sat in your accelerated maths class and looked around, and realized that there are a lot more Asians in your class than non Asians? In my opinion, it's due to our genetics. No, not all Asians are naturally smart, but in my opinion, if you've heard of Darwin's theory, "the survival of the fittest"; you'll know what I'm talking about. The majority

What to look for when getting a laptop? So I'm planning on buying myself a laptop for my 18th birthday and I have a lot of cash saved from the last few years. I don't really know much about computer hardware but what should I be looking for when buying a laptop? I'll be mainly using it to do work/research on and play games that pretty much require a high CPU and graphics? My budget is pretty high (probably around 1000 dollars or so? Could be more if need be) and I'm willing to fork out the cash required as I know as a fact I'll be using this laptop craploads (plus I want it to last me at least 3-4 years) when I begin university next year. Or do you guys know a site that lists the basics/guide to laptops? Thanks in advance. :) EDIT: Please d

Should I get a desktop/notebook instead of a laptop? So I posted this thread before. But I was talking to some friends who said that I should get a desktop and notebook instead. The reason was that most 'powerful' laptops would be too heavy and the battery life wouldn't suffice at university. They recommended that I should just get a desktop to play games at home and a notebook for university. Also, supposedly a $500-600 desktop would be a lot more powerful than a $700-800 laptop. So should I just spend $600-700 on a desktop for gaming and just spend $200-300 on a notebook for uni instead of $1000 or so on a powerful laptop? What are your thoughts/experiences? Thanks in advance.

Do you talk to your sibling about sex and all of that stuff? I'm 16 and my brother turned 13 last week and I've been wondering about whether he's started to notice which girls are good looking or not, whether he 'fantasizes' about girls or not and all of that stuff.... I'm really curious but I don't want to ask him cause it may become really awkward. Also I want to like give him a few tips on how not to mess up like I did when I was his age. But people learn from their own mistakes better than anything else right? Do you talk to your sibling(s) about all of this stuff? If so, how old are you and how old are they? Does it ever get awkward? Also do you guys have any advice? Or should I just leave him as he is? Thank you. EDIT: Far out, wrong

Funny pick up lines will help me? Hey guys, one of the girls I've been trying to get in with for like a month bloody moved from my area (got a dancing scholarship interstate) and lives 8 hours drive away from me now. All that time wasted lel. It's okay though, I'm gonna just mess around and forget about my troubles. Later tonight, I'm planning to drink with some mates and go out into the city. I'm looking for some funny pickup lines to use on random girls. I don't mind if it's rude, just don't go over the edge. One of the ones I'm planning to use is: *Walks up to girl* "Hi, are you gay?" "No." "Wow, me neither, let's root.' If you've got any others please share below, thank you so much.

Why finding your love on MapleStory is higher than you think The chances of this happening is actually a lot higher than most of you would think because meeting your 'love' on MapleStory means you already share one common interest and most online gamers usually share more than the one common interest (e.g. Computers/technology in general, other games, Anime? (A lot of Asians on Maple)) That also reminds me, a large percentage of Maplers are Asian and it's been shown that people are more likely fall for someone who has the same ethnicity as them (similar genetic traits resulting in similar interests maybe?) But of course there are a crapload of exceptions, I'm Asian and Auntie married an Australian guy and has two kids now. But the main thin
