Its a miracle were still around I'll try to keep this short and concise considering the likelihood of this thread getting locked/deleted. We're stuck in a positive feedback loop and for two reasons: mods don't respond well to criticism, and Mr. B doesn't care. Users offer valid criticisms about the site in the form of a post/thread -> Mods interpret 90% of these criticisms as either suspension complaints/appeals or some other form of off-topic, suspension-worthy post -> They tell you to submit a ticket to Mr. B and promptly lock the thread or delete your post -> All further [possibly] engaging discussion ends, but again, mods will interpret this as stopping a thread before it gets out of hand -> Send a ticket to Mr. Basil ->

Lets set up some rules I, and at least a dozen other Basilers have been with /90/ (anime/manga section) ever since it was separated from /6/ (chat). Of course, that destroyed the high level of anime discussion because /90/ threads weren't front-paged. Now that's changed and we finally have a spot on the front page again -- and if you've been a long-time member, you'll have noticed by now the massive increase of activity compared to 3 days ago. It's fantastic that we have 3x the posts, but we also have 3x the amount of bad posts. So can we, as the small community we are, make some basic rules we can stick with? You know, like not making recommendation threads and not spelling/capitalizing/pluralizing the word "anime" incorrectly on

Purchasing Manga and Other JP-written Works TLDR: This is a rant, and do people even waste their money on manga anymore? I visited the only Japanese book store chain in California over the weekend, leaving disappointed because they didn't have any of the Prisma Illya art collections in stock. I couldn't believe there were other people besides me that would spend $45 on something like that, but that's besides the point. I ended up settling for some manga and the total was about $32 after sales tax. Why? I understand that retailers have to make profit, but this is a 50-60% mark-up we're talking about here. Sure, it may only be a few-dollars diffe

Winners get the glory of being a weeaboo. I also took the liberty of censoring and watermarking images to prevent the use of reverse searching (i.e. cheating). Purchasing Textbooks Has anyone else ever been scammed by college textbooks, or textbooks in general? I just painfully stubbed my toe on one that fell off my bookcase, and I realized that I've never actually legitimately used most of them. Though given I've only purchased 3 textbooks over the years, just a single book received use. The other two books are what I want to complain about: The first one is Calculus, The Early Transcendentals which cost me $130 loose leaf. "Oh, you'll use it for all tiers of calculus we teach here and it comes with a Web Assign key! It's a really good book!" the advisor told me. I was a first year at the time and cluelessly bought it.
