@modsaredumb: I know what you mean. I get off work late and I have two kids. When I am playing, it is late. I like to have a chill class. Something strong but not as intense. That is why I always admired Aran and TB but never wanted to main one.

Lvl 50 right now. He's a pretty slow class but he's a bit more entertaining than I thought he was. It's a pretty chill and relaxed class. Reminds me a lot of Brawler but with explosions every hit and slower movements/map control. The "POW!!" behind every punch is pretty cool though. Enjoying it more than I did Evan.

@repentant: I can play Merc and Hayato as well. I put the skills nicely on my Merc, but there is just one skill left I can't fit it properly on my settings. I want them within my hand's reach.

But ya for classes that relies on link skills and mobility skills you do need a good keyboard setup, which many players do not have and because of this it can make it harder to play a class.

Thunderbreakers is a bit too much for me, perhaps I could simplify it by dropping some skills. But I am not sure if I would miss out important skills by doing that.

Hero job is easy, there isn't really much stuff to do on a Hero like a Merc, TB etc. They did get some new skills from time to time, like now they can pull themself towards an enemy which increases their mobility. Maybe it's harder for you to dodge things because they are less mobile compared to Merc and Hayato?

Blasters aight, so far everything was pretty fun except for the abomination that was its 3rd job. Basically ignored every skill in it because I never found them to be better than magnum punch.

@hualicious: It's the reverse for me. I find classes like Merc and Hayato easier to play because of the variety in their skillset. They have a bunch of movement options and different skills that can be used for different situations - that kind of flexibility is what makes gameplay easier for me. I actually found my Hero more difficult to control than my Hayato x.x

@donkreeq: Yea, hardcore classes are a lot more... intense(?) to play. Some times I'm just not in the mood for craziness. It's like coming home from work at 2 am feeling wiped the heck out and trying to play DOOM. As much as I love intense classes/gameplay it's just not perfect all the time. If I'm in a lazy, chill sort of mood I play my Paladin or Hero.

@modsaredumb:

I have to agree with you. Some people are casual players and do not mind spamming a key and killing an entire map. Those players tend to chat and chill during training, etc.

While some are playing Thunderbreaker, Aran, Merc, AB, Zero and Hayato have to chain their skills in order to maximize their gameplay.

I personally did not mind casualness with Phantom but I found many other classes like Merc actually fun. I will give it a go regardless because of link skill LOL.

@ecarina: That's more of a playerbase sort of thing. There are classes that take the utmost concentration and actually require some brain usage(mercedes, zero, etc). While there are loads of people who like that gameplay, there's always the more casual groups of gamers out there that want an easier, simpler experience. Free 2 Play attracts a lot of those casual players.
It also has a lot to do with the hardcore/casual balance of the game. Most classes in Maplestory are casual-focused with a few hardcore here n there. So you're gonna find a lot of people not liking the hardcore classes since it's in the minority of everything else. FFXIV for example is a pretty complicated game, but if you add in a class as simple as Maplestory creates into XIV it would be shunned into the minority because of the playerbase and of it going against it's more hardcore gameplay type.

That's my opinion anyways. Though both sides have their positives and negatives and I enjoy both at different moods.

OT though!
I have not played Blaster but I plan to here in a few minutes. It looked horribly boring and stale when announced in KMS and forgot the class even existed till just now lol. But hey, I thought Zero looked unappealing at first too and that turned out to be my favorite class of all time in all MMORPG's. Always wise to give everything a chance. Hope Blaster is good!

I find it alright so far, haven't gotten to 4th job but I know Im gonna get it to atleast 150 for the pet.
They are very strong for its level.... lvl 62 consistently doing 40k crits, 72% crit, only funding is a few link skills and evo rings.

@ecarina: Yea if a job has too many skills, players may avoid them. But I think it's not just because of that though.

Mercedes has skills you can link to each other (gives some buff if you link), you have to use it often though.

It's not only Mercedes but Thunderbreaker too. They are depended on their linking skills to preform the best.

So these characters require you to press many keys which most players find it inconvenient plus some find them boring or weak so they avoid playing them.

I haven't tried Blaster yet, but I think they are not bad.

Edit: Blasters are definitely not a bad job to play. They aren't that slow from what other players were saying.

It's weird how doing more with the character is more dull than doing less. I think it has something to do with a bunch of key presses needing to go in to do something that other classes can do normally. Mercedes has a ton of skills and ultimately accomplish the same thing that Lumis do by pressing one key. This allows Lumis to distract themselves with something more entertaining whereas Mercs need to concentrate.

Or at least that's what I took away from it.

@zcrimsyn Mercs really attract me with their beautiful skills and all that, but playing it for a while is damn boring. And you're right about blaster being super boring ...

I find blaster incredibly boring imo. I even prefer Mercedes over blasters and that's saying something since Mercs are incredibly boring as well.

Didn't want to make a thread because idk if someone already made one but... Did I really just mess up everything by making a lvl 1 resistance burning character AND then try to job advance it to Blaster? because right now I just made that character completely useless... Elex says burning characters can't become Blasters XD
