I think the reboot server sounds great and I would go to that server immediately. I don't spend money on the game to begin with so a whole server based on that principal sounds amazing. Some interactions I had with people who spend money and show off their damage have been not good anyways. I wont miss most of them.
So, basically "Reboot World" is a server where people are forced to play the way I've always played. XD
@Graystoke: No, i'd imagine the ones who are deeply involved in the game will continue to be deeply involved regardless of if other people play. To the best of my knowledge one does not just throw $2k at game and then just drop it because no one else is around.
The new reboot, from the sounds of it, will be for the players who are not looking to spend money to get ahead, or a ridiculous amount of time. While the other one will exist with all of its cubing and micro transactional goodness for the people who like it that way.
I don't really like it because it will eliminate the whole aspect of what a mmorpg is. It's about social and community wise. Taking out trading elminates any function that happening. They already made the game soloable now so you don't need to party for bosses. What else is there to socialize for in the game? Might as well take out the chat feature and online feature. Just make it an offline RPG game instead.
There are people who quit because of the reason you mention, and then there are the ones who did in fact quit because of the direction this game went in. Quitting is quitting, regardless of the reasoning behind it. So I don't really understand what you mean by saying that quitting=found a more productive use of time exclusively.
If this is done correctly, it has a good chance at bringing back the people who quit due to the changes that took place, the ones who enjoyed the game as it used to be, and quit because it became something entirely different. A perfect example of this would be runescape. People quit when it became a game entirely different from the original. Those same people then came back when a variant was introduced that was the game they enjoyed.
But if the population of regular maple drops so much that it doesn't have enough people, will those people in regular maple quit?
Exactly.
There isn't really any other game quite like Maplestory, is there?
And it was incredibly popular... they were obviously doing something right for all those people to have played it.
There's no doubt in my mind that the game could be super popular again.
To make it work, the key will be advertisement. Most people who have ended up quitting most likely have disconnected themselves with anything maple content related.
Meaning, if this were to come about, they would probably never hear about it unless nexon took the initiation to advertise.
When they implemented the big bang patch, they advertised in a few different gaming magazines, including game informer. And i'm certain they advertised online as well, too.
Exactly.
The people who actually quit won't come back. It's called quitting because you're found a more productive use of your time. They will get some people back though
I definitely see this as an opportunity to increase the game's population.
what do y'all think?
Or get a lot of their older population that quit because of the pay to win aspect back.

They are basically saying f*ck you to the players that have spent all their money on this game. They will just lower the already lower population of maple
I think it looks neat if you are a new player

Splitting the maple community (again) with this Reboot Server will only cause more Dead Worlds.
