[header]Start of Skill Builds[/header]

Hey everyone!

Since Big Bang hit MapleStory less than a week ago, I've seen quite a bit of threads in the Thief section for the Skill Builds for Assassins/Hermits/Night Lords. After much research on skills and how they were changed I think I've come up with a few decent skill builds for us. There are some skills that will not be maxed and some new ones that won't be maxed at all. I will do a Level by Level skill layout so that everyone can know exactly what level to start raising the right skills if they have messed up. Now, shall we begin?

[header]First Job(Rogue) : Level 10 to 30[/header]

A fairly easy, simple skill build for those who are just starting the Night Lord journey.

Skill Build #1: The Lucky Seven First build.

Level 10: Lucky Seven +1 [1]
Level 11: Lucky Seven +3 [4]
Level 12: Lucky Seven +3 [7]
Level 13: Lucky Seven +3 [10]
Level 14: Lucky Seven +3 [13]
Level 15: Lucky Seven +3 [16]
Level 16: Lucky Seven +3 [19]
Level 17: Lucky Seven +1 [20]Max , Nimble Body +2 [2]
Level 18: Nimble Body +1 [3] , Keen Eyes +2 [2]
Level 19: Keen Eyes +3 [5]Max
Level 20: Disorder +3 [3]
Level 21: Dark Sight +3 [3]
Level 22: Dark Sight +3 [6]
Level 23: Dark Sight +3 [9]
Level 24: Dark Sight +1 [10]Max , Nimble Body +2 [5]
Level 25: Nimble Body +3 [8]
Level 26: Nimble Body +3 [11]
Level 27: Nimble Body +3 [14]
Level 28: Nimble Body +3 [17]
Level 29: Nimble Body +3 [20]Max
Level 30: Disorder +3 [6]

In the end:
Nimble Body: MAX
Keen Eyes: MAX
Disorder: 6
Dark Sight: MAX
Lucky Seven: MAX
Double Stab: 0

Reason: Since L7 is your main attacking skill from 10-120 it's almost a sure thing that you should max it straight away. After that you can max Keen Eyes to increase your throwing range so you're not kissing the monster every time you attack. Lasly, Dark Sight for quicker mobility around Maps without being hit and Nimble Body to increase Accuracy and Avoidability.

Skill Build #2: Thanks to @SilverStrato for this build.
Level 10: Lucky Seven +1 [1]
Level 11: Nimble Body +3 [3]
Level 12: Keen Eyes +3 [3]
Level 13: Keen Eyes +2 [5]Max , Lucky Seven +1 [2]
Level 14: Lucky Seven +3 [5]
Level 15: Lucky Seven +3 [8]
Level 16: Lucky Seven +3 [11]
Level 17: Lucky Seven +3 [14]
Level 18: Lucky Seven +3 [17]
Level 19: Lucky Seven +3 [20]Max
Level 20: Disorder +3 [3]
Level 21: Dark Sight +3 [3]
Level 22: Dark Sight +3 [6]
Level 23: Dark Sight +3 [9]
Level 24: Dark Sight +1 [10]Max , Nimble Body +2 [5]
Level 25: Nimble Body +3 [8]
Level 26: Nimble Body +3 [11]
Level 27: Nimble Body +3 [14]
Level 28: Nimble Body +3 [17]
Level 29: Nimble Body +3 [20]Max
Level 30: Disorder +3 [6]

In the end
Nimble Body: MAX
Keen Eyes: MAX
Disorder: 6
Dark Sight: MAX
Lucky Seven: MAX
Double Stab: 0

~NOTE~As far as I know, there's almost no other way people raise their skill points. If someone has raised them differently, PM me with how you raised it each level and the reasoning of why you did what you did, and I'll add the build into here.~NOTE~

[header]Second Job(Assassin) : Level 30 to 70[/header]

Congrats! You have officially made it to the rank of Assassin! Now, you will receive a brand new skill set and a new build as well!

Skill Build #1: The average Assassin Skill build.

Level 30: Claw Mastery +1 [1]
Level 31: Claw Mastery +2 [3] , Critical Throw +1 [1]
Level 32: Critical Throw +3 [4]
Level 33: Critical Throw +3 [7]
Level 34: Critical Throw +3 [10]
Level 35: Critical Throw +3 [13]
Level 36: Critical Throw +3 [16]
Level 37: Critical Throw +3 [19]
Level 38: Critical Throw +3 [22]
Level 39: Critical Throw +3 [25]
Level 40: Critical Throw +3 [28]
Level 41: Critical Throw +2 [30]Max , Claw Mastery +1 [4]
Level 42: Claw Mastery +1 [5] , Claw Booster +2 [2]
Level 43: Claw Booster +3 [5]
Level 44: Claw Booster +1 [6] , Haste +2 [2]
Level 45: Haste +3 [5]
Level 46: Haste +3 [8]
Level 47: Haste +3 [11]
Level 48: Haste +3 [14]
Level 49: Haste +3 [17]
Level 50: Haste +3 [20]Max
Level 51: Claw Mastery +3 [8]
Level 52: Claw Mastery +3 [11]
Level 53: Claw Mastery +3 [14]
Level 54: Claw Mastery +3 [17]
Level 55: Claw Mastery +3 [20]Max
Level 56: Shadow Resistance +3 [3]
Level 57: Shadow Resistance +3 [6]
Level 58: Shadow Resistance +3 [9]
Level 59: Shadow Resistance +3 [12]
Level 60: Shadow Resistance +3 [15]
Level 61: Shadow Resistance +3 [18]
Level 62: Shadow Resistance +2 [20]Max , Claw Booster +1 [7]
Level 63: Claw Booster +3 [10]
Level 64: Claw Booster +3 [13]
Level 65: Claw Booster +3 [16]
Level 66: Claw Booster +3 [19]
Level 67: Claw Booster +1 [20]Max , Drain +2 [2]
Level 68: Drain +3 [5]
Level 69: Drain +3 [8]
Level 70: Drain +3 [11]
In the end
Claw Mastery: MAX
Critical Throw: MAX
Claw Booster: MAX
Haste: MAX
Shadow Resistance: MAX
Drain: 11

Reason: First off, who doesn't want to see the high hitting critcals asap? I know I did when I was a beginnning Assassin. Next, Claw Booster to 6 so that you have a minute of attacking faster and it's not a pain to re-do all the time. Haste is a huge must next because you'll get across maps in a flash now. Maxing Claw Booster after Haste will let you control Haste+Booster is one swift movement(If you have it on a Macro) and you don't have to constantly watch both. Shadow Resistance for the extra HP boost and Elemental resistance helps against monsters. Raising Claw Mastery last to add the extra amount of throwing stars and for next job when you get Avenger. Drain will be left at 12 for now due to the fact it isn't used much at this time.

~NOTE~The same thing with the 1st Job Skills. If you used a different skill build tell me what you raised for each level and the reasoning behind it and I'll add it in.~NOTE~

[header]Third Job(Hermit) : Level 70-120[/header]

Well, you've made it to third job! You'll receive a brand new skill set and with a new skill set comes......another skill build! Yay! There are two builds that I know of for Hermits. They are the Traditional/Max-SP-First. Each will come out with the same skills at 120 so just choose and follow the guide.

Traditional Skill Build #1: (Avenger)Most Recommended

Shadow Web: MAX
Shadow Meso: 2
Avenger: MAX
Flash Jump: MAX
Dark Flare: MAX

Reason: Shadow Partner you will use for the rest of your career so you might as well max it asap. Avenger is your first mobbing skill which is GREAT so get that next. Flash Jump for faster travel, Alchemist so your pots heal more and Atk pots last longer, Meso Up for greater Meso drops from monsters(Highly underrated skill that is amazing.), Dark Flare for when you start bossing next job and Shadow Web just for the heck of it. Also, with left over skills from the end of the levels of 3rd job, max either Booster or Drain with 9 SP and put the other two points in whatever you want.

Traditional Skill Build #2: (Alchemist)

Level 70: Avenger +1 [1]
Level 71: Shadow Partner +3 [3]
Level 72: Shadow Partner +3 [6]
Level 73: Shadow Partner +3 [9]
Level 74: Shadow Partner +3 [12]

Level 115: Shadow Web +3 [16]
Level 116: Shadow Web +3 [19]
Level 117: Shadow Web +1 [20]Max , Drain +2 [13]
Level 118: Drain +3 [16]
Level 119: Drain +3 [19]

Shadow Web: MAX
Shadow Meso: 2
Avenger: MAX
Flash Jump: MAX
Dark Flare: MAX

Reason: Once again, Shadow Partner because it's your main Attacking skill. Getting Avenger to five to get one Flash Jump is also very helpful for mobbing and mobility. Then, start on Alchemist for pot use. After that, take back up Avenger and then Flash Jump and max them both. Then, go onto Meso Up/Dark Flare/Shadow Web and you'll be at 120 in no time at all.

[header]Fourth Job(Night Lord) : 120-200[/header]

Wow, you've made it to 4th job. I'm so proud of you. It seems like only yesterday you were reading up on my Rogue skill list... Anyways, let's dive right into the skills. You'll receive all the skills you need in 4th job. Unlike Pre-BB you will not need to do the quests to gain these skills. There are two types of Builds for 4th job. The Training and Bossing builds. I'll cover both.

Skill Build #1: (Training)

Level 120: Triple Throw +1 [1] , Shadow Stars +1 [1] , Venomous Star +1 [1]
Level 121: Triple Throw +3 [4]
Level 122: Triple Throw +3 [7]
Level 123: Triple Throw +3 [10]
Level 124: Triple Throw +3 [13]
Level 125: Triple Throw +3 [16]
Level 126: Triple Throw +3 [19]
Level 127: Triple Throw +1 [20] , Venomous Star +2 [3]
Level 128: Venomous Star +3 [6]
Level 129: Venomous Star +3 [9]
Level 130: Venomous Star +1 [10] , Shadow Stars +2 [3]
Level 131: Shadow Stars +2 [5] , Venomous Star +1 [11]
Level 132: Venomous Star +3 [14]
Level 133: Venomous Star +3 [17]
Level 134: Venomous Star +3 [20]
Level 135: Venomous Star +3 [23] OR if you can't get the skill book go into Expert Throwing Star Handling +3 [3]

Depending on your funding you can Max Triple Throw asap by buying the skill book. If you do max TT at 30, max MW too. Then continue with Venom, Shadow Shifter, Expert Throwing Star Handling and Shadow Stars in that exact order.
If you can't max TT at 30, don't go for max MW too. Continue with Venom, Shadow Shifter, Expert Throwing Star Handling and Shadow Stars.
Skill Build #2: (Bossing)

Level 120: Triple Throw +1 [1] , Shadow Stars +1 [1] , Venomous Star +1 [1]
Level 121: Triple Throw +3 [4]
Level 122: Triple Throw +3 [7]
Level 123: Triple Throw +3 [10]
Level 124: Triple Throw +3 [13]
Level 125: Triple Throw +3 [16]
Level 126: Triple Throw +3 [19]
Level 127: Triple Throw +1 [20] , Shadow Stars +2 [3]
Level 128: Shadow Stars +2 [5] , Shadow Shifter +1 [1]
Level 129: Shadow Shifter +3 [4]
Level 130: Shadow Shifter +3 [7]
Level 131: Shadow Shifter +3 [10]
Level 132: Shadow Shifter +3 [13] OR if you can't get SS 20 go into Venomous Star +3 [4]
Level 133: Shadow Shifter +3 [16] OR if you can't get SS 20 go into Venomous Star +3 [7]
Level 134: Shadow Shifter +3 [19] OR if you can't get SS 20 go into Venomous Star +3 [10]
Level 135: Shadow Shifter +3 [22] OR if you can't get SS 20 go into Venomous Star +3 [13]

Once again, depending on funding you can max TT asap by buying the skill book. If you do max TT at 30, max Shadow Shifter next followed by Expert Throwing Star Handling and lastly Shadow Stars. Then, start saving money for MW 20/30 to finishing your bossing build. Start adding points into Venom and then experiment with other skills following that.

Extra Notes from Dodging
Get 1 point in shadow shifter early on (lv121), 16% avoid rate is pretty high.
Venom is not very useful, and it's almost pointless in a training build. When training you almost always kill the monster fast enough before venom can have any worthwhile effect. On a bossing build, the extra damage is minimal unless you spend a whole 30 SP in it (with a 10k range it hits 14k extra damage/second, a 10k range will already do 200k/second). 30 SP at such a low level is much better spent getting 45% avoid or getting higher MW.

My build went/will go:
First, 1 Triple Throw, 1 Shadow Stars, 1 Venomous Stars.
Then, 1 Shadow Shifter, Max Triple Throw.
Then, 19 Maple Warrior.
Then, 4 Shadow Stars, 10 Expert Throwing Star Handling.
Then, Max Shadow Shifter.
Then, Max Venomous Star.
Lastly, Max Shadow Stars.

For a sometimes-training + usually-bossing NL who generally isnt in a party with MW. NL builds can be pretty much anything though, so put SP wherever you see fit.
~NOTE~I only went to Lvl 135 on both Training and Bossing skill builds because 4th job is all about preferences. You may enjoy using one skill over another so experiment with all the skills and find a build that works for you. If you don't find one that suits you best, I recommend the Training build because most Maplers can't get into Boss runs at a fairly low level.~NOTE~

[header]Conclusion.[/header]

Well, there you have it everyone. There are the skill builds from when you start being a Thief all the way to last job advancement. I'll be keeping up with this guide and answering as many questions as I can. If you notice any mistakes I've made, please, point them out and I'll fix them asap.

Everyone, don't forget to submit a ticket under the 'I have a suggestion' box. Tell them about this thread so it can be stickied!

@vocaLzit : That's good that now you're maxing ETSH. After you're done with that I'd focus on either Shadow Stars or Shadow Shifter. And after you max either of those, go ahead and max the other.

Likewise, if you have the money for MW 20/30 then I'd say get it to 20/30 first before you start on Shadow Shifter/Stars.

@vocaLzit : First off I'd like to apologize for not getting back to you until now. Likewise, MW 20 is perfectly fine for solo training and then (usually) when you are in a high leveled party someone should have MW 30.

What all have you maxed currently? So I know which ones you've gotten out of the way.

@Reacher41 : Alchemist yes, is a Passive Skill. It increases the pot duration. In example; If you used an Onyx Apple (10 minutes of +100 W.Att) and had max Alchemist it the Onyx Apple would then last 15 minutes instead of only 10.

I know this is kind of going to sound like a noob question, but is Alchemist somehow a passive skill? I read in the skill stats that there's a duration, and i tried using the skill or putting it in a hotkey, but it wouldn't work. Any idea why if it's not a passive skill?

@shinsasori : Go ahead and max Drain. Shadow Web and Shadow Meso are both useless skills and don't even need to be maxed... Just finish maxing drain and then dump points into Web or Meso. It doesn't matter which one honestly. They have no effect on your training.

@DexedOutz : Just like what Mrman551 said, it's a star that reflects damage back to the monster/boss when you get hit. It works for all six members of parties as well. When I get 1/1'd at Pap it'll hit back a 72,xxx hit back on Pap. It's very good. Especially if you're at Zakum/CWK/HT with a party of Warriors that get hit all the time. f3

@Mrman551 : Personally, in my own experience Shadow Web has saved me countless times. It's that quick, "Hurry and stop all monsters for a second before I die" skill. It's a quick Shadow Web then Potion. Also, if you need to rebuff and there's a lot of monsters around just use Web on them so you can buff safely.

for anyone dat wants something diffrent from his hermit build I did
1SP then 2 SP 1 avenger until avenger was 5 den I started putting 1 in each SP,avenger,fj after SP is maxed start doing 1 avenger, 1 fj, 1 alchemist but every other lvl do 2 avenger, 1 fj when avenger is maxed do 2 jf 1 alchemist then 2 alchemist 1 fj till fj is maxed asoon as you max fj
put 2 in alchemist 1 in meso up till alchemist is maxed then put 2 in meso up 1 in darkflare (just to have darkflare if you like to kill some weak bosses everyonce ina while) then put all 3 in meso up till maxed, then max darkflare, after dat I maxed my drain (sence I use it more den I would use shadow web or shadow meso so yea) max drain then put in 2 in shadow web 1 in shadow meso then just max shadow web I guess.. you don't really need does much so it don't matter

@kmakevin : So far I've found TT30 from Rextons(Failed too..) and MW20 from Red Dragon Turtles. Both have an extremely rare drop rate. I'll ask around for other ones. Also, the build you have is fine. Personally, I replaced the Venom with Shifter because 16% chance of auto-avoid is amazing.

@Subtly : I don't know what you're trying to say because Meso Up is maxed in all of the 3rd job skill builds listed. If you're talking about the guy who was missing SP due to BB patch then the reason I said it isn't "needed" is because it doesn't have to be used to train. You don't absolutely need it unlike Avenger/Alchemist/Flash Jump/etc.

meso up is a super under-appreciated skill. especially if you have a pet, you gain meso from each training session which is especially important if you aren't very funded. that said, i think maxing meso up is more crucial than going back to max 1st/2nd job skills.

@Mrman551 : I got my hair from Mu Lung Exp. hair. It took a total of one try to get. However, I see less and less people with this hair so it may not be around anymore. Ask around Basil and Maple to see if you can still get it before you go waste $25 trying to get it.

@Mrman551 : If you have the proper funding, you can go ahead and max TripleThrow 30 asap. Now, TripleThrow 30 in Windia is easily sold for 300m(I don't know about Khaini prices). If you have enough for two(And some money left over), just incase one fails at the 50% work/fail ratio, then go ahead and get it.

Also, Furies are beautiful, I won't lie. But using Ilbis/Hwabis will be just as good. Like I said earlier in this post, if you have the funding for at least 15 Furies get them. If you don't have enough funding for 15+, then just get a lot of Ilbis/Hwabis and focus on upgrading your claw/helm/top/bottom/shoes/etc.

If you would like more help feel free to PM me. How much funding you have and the average price of TT 30/Furies in Khaini would help me, help you.

@Miirag3 : Trying to do so. No luck so far. Thanks for the support!

@shinsasori : All potions/attack potions work with Alchemist. At level 90 I started using Barb Elixers from NLC. They heal 1,500 Hp normally but, with max Alchemist they heal 2,250 Hp. I don't know how big your Use Inventory is but I've expanded mine all the way and I carry about 600 Barbs at a time.

@shinsasori : There's a lot of things that ETSH does.

First: ETSH increases damage for Lucky Seven, Drain, Avenger and Shadow Meso.
Second: ETSH gives you a chance to recharge one throwing star each time you throw a star(with any attack). But only one. Yeah, one star...
Third: When ETSH is activated your next attack will be all critical attacks(which is amazing). I don't know what percentage that it actives but it's amazing at Lvl 4 for me right now.

Also, I said that you shouldn't save points for Triple Throw 30 UNLESS you can get a Mastery Book to work right away. If you say the points for TT 30 you'll be missing out on plenty of other amazing skills(like ETSH/Shifter/Etc.).

The thing is, you still shouldn't save points for TT 30 UNLESS you have enough money to max it at that point. Assuming he can get a TT 30 to work I'd suggest one of the bossing builds but it's all about prefrances. Maybe he'll like things I haven't suggested.
Personally, saving the SP after you level up for ETSH isn't smart. Just at the points as you get it. If you save the points then it puts you at a disadvantage to a Night Lord who has raised ETSH at the proper levels. However, you first need 5 SC before you can raise any ETSH. Also, switching on and off between two skills isn't recommended that much in my opinion. Focus on one skill at a time, I suggest Shadow Shifter first.
@shinsasori : I'd still go with the Shadow Partner -> Avenger path. It's just my opinion even if you're unfunded. Buying 100 summoning rocks(Which is about my training session) is only about 700k in Windia. I'm not sure about Bera prices because I haven't had the chance to check it out there lately. As you start getting to a higher level, you'll gain more money and it'll be easier to get rocks.

@BurninDavyn : To answer your first question(As far as I known of), no there isn't a set number of SP you need in 3rd job skills. I'll ask around from my guild and buddies to try to find out however. Also, from the way you have it planned out, it looks like you'd be just fine. Sure Meso up is a decent skill to have but it isn't really needed. It looks like a fairly decent build and as long as it works for you, that's perfectly fine. Good luck!

@Defiled : Disorder? Last time I check, Disorder doesn't work on Bosses. The only time I think I've seen it work on a "boss" is when people use it on a CRog. But for Bosses like, Zakum and HornTail, there's no need for it.
In 3rd job its way better to max avenger now.. no questions... its extremely strong, and you'll be training on lots of mobs. So why make it difficult and use SP?
If you will have that pitiful build, at least make it "Non-recommended".
If at 71 +3 Avenger (4)

- L7 170% x2
- Avenger 286% x 4 mobs

If at 71 +3 SP (1 Avenger, 3 SP)

- L7 197% x 2 (54% increase)
- Avenger 317% x 4 mobs (43% increase)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. You tell me.

Maxing SP first is MUCH better. The extra damage works on not only avenger (making lvl 1 avenger+SP stronger than maxed avenger), but it also works on lucky 7 too. I think having more damage for 4 monsters is far superior to dealing less damage to 6 monsters, considering 6 monster mobs don't come by as often.

I have a question for ETTH... It says the effect doesn't apply with shadow stars, but is that only for the use up stars part? Meaning do you still recharge an extra star when it activates? And also, specially if you don't recharge extra stars, does the 20% extra crit chance still work with shadow stars?

@junhek : What I meant from that description is that you'll get Booster to 6, which is for a minute, and then later on in the build you'll max it later. Maxing Booster right away isn't really needed from my experiences.

@ViolinFTW : Some people, who have the money, would rather use the SP even still. It's not a "pitiful" build it's just a different build. Different builds work for different people.

@TheSamNaim : Yes, you need to actually get the skill before you can raise it. You can get TT 10 from Zak and then after you use it (100% chance to work) you can start putting points into it, until level 10. Then, you need the TT 20 skill book. After you get that to work (70% chance to work) you can raise TT up to level 20. Then after that you can get TT 30 (50% chance to work) and use that. Finish by maxing TT.

@kmakevin : Alright, I'll try that out and see how it looks for a while. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for the feedback too. (:

@TheSamNaim : Personally, from experience, Ven. Star isn't that good of a skill at first because by the time it takes effect, you would have already killed the monster. So putting the points into Ven. Star instead of say, Shifter which is a 45% chance of avoid all the time is fairly illogical to me.

@jinoho : I know I already replied to your mail but I'll reply back here too for other people. It's worth putting the 5 points into SC because then you can start on EHTS, which needs SC at Lvl 5 to begin.

To all: I'll have up a new 3rd Job skill build I received today and I'll be taking advice from @kmakevin to add the "(Max)" when skills reach their final level.

Books like TT that come from Zakum are still not "free." Only skill books from quests like Ninja Ambush are given in addition to the ones you normally get at your advance. xD
