Buccaneer

Average Damage

I just started playing maplestory since pre-big bang (no pot equips back then). I feel like my damage range is reaaaalllly low, I'm a level 150 bucc with damage range of 10.3k to 11.4k unbuffed. Any suggestions on how to raise my damage range?

And if you don't mid sharing your level and damage rage below as well!

180 Bucc 80k range unfunded been playing off and on and off from long before the big mess and I dont think You need to spend money for mesos or nx just seize events when they are here and train at high exp maps although it is slightly harder than if funded and try merchanting with what you have

Keep an eye out in your character's inventory for pre-bb equipts, they can fetch quite a few mesos if you sell them, just things like maple danas, versalmas hats, glowing whip etc.
What kind of bosses can you solo with your range? Sorry to bother you, but I'm just unsure of being a bucc right now, coming back after 2 years myself, but just wondering if buccs are decent bossers these days.
If you want to make a bucc to boss that is a big mistake. As you probably know, the range on our octopunch is sub-par. The only think i'd say we have to our advantage is the fact that we can take hits and that bucc blast can hit multiple things hard ( HT, Zak arms, etc.). However, this doesn't mean we can't solo. I can easily solo all forms of zak, all forms of HT, Normal RA, Hilla, and Gollux.
Luckily for you, Buccs do a lot of damage without a lot of funding. Trust me, i was in the same boat as you, but i was able to get my bucc to 210 without incident. My range isn't the greatest (250k clean), but it is definitely easy to do decent damage.

I've got the same question. I'm not sure how to go about increasing my range. I guess I need more funds but my world (Bellonova) is pretty dead and I can't sell much in the fm without a shop.
There's a lot of these posts so I'll share some things that may help.
1. Do link skills and character. This is probably the fastest and best way to increase damage since it will work for almost all characters. Do the big ones like demon avenger, kanna, xenon, and level 2 link merc for easy leveling. Do luminous, cannoneer, beast tamer, and so on for added benefits. Work on filling up character cards. This will be a quick and noticeable difference in damage. This is what most people will suggest first.
2. Do all the bosses daily. This is a time investment. You can kill normal/easy zakum. You can probably kill pap REALLY easily. Do all the bosses you can daily as it is very important. You will get reward points (fake nx) and then you will get money, potions, and equipment. Use the power elixirs you get, sell the rest to NPC, and then also very importantly: EXTRACT THE EQUIPS. Go scout ch 1 ardentmill for extractors. If there is an extractor under 5k each extraction, extract every equip you get. Keep the crystals and then sell them off later on. I make a ton from this daily and it takes almost no effort. I do daily boss runs (only a few since I don't need too much money anymore), and then cash in my crystals I extract in the FM. I know what you're thinking: I don't have a permit... well this is where the reward points come in. Every month you can have 1-2 session where you can purchase a store permit. Just stock up on your crystals and sell everything on a designated sell day. You will rake in millions fast.
3. Go for set bonuses and do gollux. Get the gollux quests done and do easy gollux daily. This is doable with 20k range and practice. 20k isn't a lot. I have 30k+ on a blaze wizard that has no equips except things I have found while doing low tier bosses, monster park extreme, and other things. That blaze wizard was funded from nothing. Use the coins to either 1. sell advanced gollux scroll service for 80-120m each or 2. scroll the items with the scrolls you can get. This will take about 3 months to finish getting 2 of the superior items and scrolling them. Or you can sell 1 scroll every 3 days and then pull in money and then buy better equips.
4. Only buy equips that matter. So this means only buy the chaos root abyss set, gollux set, and items that will matter endgame. You can use other ones and buy them in fm if it's a really good deal, but otherwise it's just not worth it since you won't be using it for too long.
5. Use spell traces. Again, this goes back to doing bosses. They drop crusader coins. 20 coins = 100 spell traces. 100 coins = 500 spell traces. 500 spell traces lets you scroll a level 150 item for free (70%). The 70% scrolls these days are equal to the 10% scrolls in the old days. This is how you power up your character fast. Spell trace items and then watch your damage go up. Spell trace more and then you can kill harder bosses. Then you can get money even easier, so you can get stronger. This is how the game works and how you can get strong. This game is much easier now that spell traces are out.
6. Again very important: take advantage of the events. A month ago would have been a great time to come back. Train on monsters and find nut coins. Sell nut coin service or use the nut coin shop items. Now is a pretty good time to play too. Do the hunter quests to get badges and totems and pocket items. These are rare items that don't always come around. Obtain these items and you will have a good damage boost. For coin events you can get free top tier scrolls that you can sell. For 50 coins, you could have sold a chaos of goodness scroll for 100m. 50 coins isn't much when you're training. I had thousands of coins.
7. Less important but join a guild. Meet people and nicer guilds will help you. Guilds may have boss runs (at least the ones I've been in do). Participate and learn how to do bosses. Help others and others will help you. Meeting people will make the game more enjoyable even if you don't choose to socialize much.

@OldAura wow thanks a lot for the information ! I'll start working on getting the ghost ship exorcist badge and maple leaf emblem.
Unfortunately I'm not funded so I'll do with that I can in terms of equips. Thanks again, I'll keep tabs on your reply.

@AntJungle How much of a budget do you have towards upgrading?

-Link skills are a nice start. Several provide little bonuses that help quite a bit, and not to mention some are especially great for more damage (Kanna's, Xenon's, Demon Avenger's)
-Character card sets for small bonuses helps too. There's a whole page for explaining that out there somewhere.
-In Dimmensional Invasion PQ there is an equip set for level 140 that often comes with potential on it. You can start there if you're dead broke. Otherwise, work on at least getting Empress gear (mostly dirt cheap except for cape/shoulder) then work up to CRA set.
-Do the gollux prequests They take ages though, but work on saving up coins then sell or keep the equipment you can obtain from it
-Find a friend you can do bosses with for Maple Reward points at least. They can really add up and that's free cubes right there.
-Take advantage of the event quests. Hunter ones right now offer various rewards and you can even snag some totems and a few good pocket items if you don't mind working on charm to 30.
-Go level up. Doesn't always have to be grinding away. There's lots of content like boss prequests, questlines, dungeons, and boss fights you can do for EXP.
-PQing. DIPQ is probably your go-to for a long time.
-Work on obtaining potential gear. Also some items are really handy to get a hold of too (The Golden Maple Leaf Emblem and Ghost Ship Exorcist Badge are must-haves that are quest rewards).
