Did you actually read any of it..?
You DO NOT need to submit any artwork with an entry. It's "encouraged", but it's not necessary.

If you don't have the software, or can't draw you can still write up a description of a new monster with their attributes, skills, attacks and so on, and describe the animation and general look you envision.
Someone who knows how to write but not draw probably stands a better chance of winning than someone with "professional imaging software" and no creativity.

also - why aren't they just harvesting the ideas from their suggestions subforum which has heaps of ideas from enthusiastic fans. they wouldn't even have to run a competition or give out prizes

@Satellite From reading the rules over, the only thing I expect them to do is reject your entry and choose someone else if you get to the top 5 without anyone noticing you're out of the area included in the contest.

@BobR: I was asking if it'll be a unique mob then used the example of a mini boss. Y'know, like the turkeys that spawn during Thanksgiving- or any event exclusive mob for that matter; they're not bosses, but they still spawn as a single unit.

I get that they might have the same event for Europeans in EMS but I and whole bunch of other Europeans don't play EMS....
''Just go play EMS'' is really not an option, after 7 years I'm not switching to a bad version of maple if I can play the real deal here on GMS.
Why not let the few people who still play GMS from Europe enter? There can't be to much players still out there, I see absolutely no reason not to let us enter.

How about a boss that doesn't aggro and instead flees/flies away. Don't forget to make the map a jump quest of course. Throw in some Magnus balls for fun.

50-150k maplepoints is not much really. Besides, I mentioned $$$, not in-game currency. @Heretic It appears to be a GMS exclusive event, so Europeans wouldn't be eligible. I suppose if EMS holds an event like this you'd be able to enter there.

@SodiumOH It's unlikely those would win, as they're just variants on existing monsters. I get the feeling they're looking for fresh ideas, not "remixed" old monsters, but I guess you never know.

@HalloweenTown The rules specify the entry must "fit into the MapleStory universe", so a Boss should be perfectly acceptable. I haven't read what was said on the Maplestory forum thread though, so if it came from Artasi, I'd go by that.

Edit- finally read some of the "official" thread, what Artasi said is that this is a "design-a-monster" contest, not a "design-a-boss" contest, so the design has to be able to fit a normalish monster space on the screen and have more normalish monster type attacks, not boss-sized graphics and powers. That's not what the rules say, but I'd go by what's in the official thread.

@Ni3Qin "Pixel Art" means like you see on a computer, essentially drawn on the computer with something like Paint or another computer art program. That's NOT required in the rules though.
You could submit a scan of a normal hand drawing, or actually NO drawing at all. The rules only state you must submit a description of a new monster (as in a forum text message describing it).
The rules say "Artwork showing the monster is encouraged but not necessary. " Your chances are likely to be a lot better with a drawing, I'd imagine though.

To submit your entry, post it to the thread in the Maplestory Forum.

@ThaCookey Your account wasn't "banned" because of the BMS block, it was only excluded from the GMS service area. (Of course, I'm not a Nexon lawyer... )
However unfortunately unless you live in the area included in the contest rules (United States, Canada (excluding Quebec), Australia and New Zealand), you wouldn't be eligible.

Everybody else who wants to enter - READ THE RULES.

They're pretty specific about "one entry per person". Making 10,000 "mule accounts" isn't going to fly for this.

Also, the entry has to be ORIGINAL. No "PokeSnales" based on Pokemon characters, no DC or Marvel characters, no "LuigiThePlumber" monsters. Nothing based around LoL skins.

The rules also say you DON'T necessarily have to submit a drawing of what the monster looks like, although it's highly encouraged. So if you're as "artistically challenged" as I am, and can't draw a straight line with a ruler, you can still enter by writing up a good description of your idea for a new monster. It's probably a lot better with a drawing, but don't let it stop you from entering.

Sticky point-
You need your parent's permission to enter if you're under "the age of majority" where you live, in most cases 18 years old.
Wouldn't come up unless you win anyway and probably not a big deal for most people, but if that would be a problem, keep it in mind.

And finally- keep this in mind too-
By entering, you GIVE UP your rights to the idea. If you decide later on you want 10 billion dollars for the idea or you'll sue, forget it.
