About our Jewish, Canadian friend, Drake.

I know he gets a lot of hate from the hip hop community for being a "soft" rapper, and singing, but y'all can't deny he can really spit when he wants to and his mixtape stuff is rad. In the words of Charlamagne, "When Drake really spits, he's one of the best", and I cosign that. I also don't mind the singing, I just don't understand why Drake gets hate for singing, but a guy like Chance the Rapper gets love for it (love chance tho, acid rap is great)

So, what do y'all think of Drake?

Yes, let's talk about Drake. I do not listen to a lot of rap because I generally do not like rap. I find that I can't connect to the content or I can't understand the lyrics and I'm often turned off by that. That said, I really love Drake's music. Old and new, singing or rapping, whatever. I like that his lyrics are soft. For the people that hate on him think about how much worse it would be if he tried to act hard. I much prefer someone whose lyrics can range from deep to playful all the while remaining honest. I love his flow and I love his voice and I love his verses. My favorite songs are Look What You've Done, Wildfire (Remix), and Faded. I can listen to Drake all day and not get sick of him.

I don't even like Drake much, but I prefer his R&B type of music over his rapping. He could do so much better
Skill wise, he's great.
What he raps about, isn't so great.
If he probably wasn't signed with YM he'd be a greater rapper than he is today.
Honestly his style hasn't changed much since joining YM. Most songs are still introspective and about balancing success with personal life. Also, lol @ asking for rap elitists for the logic behind their opinions. "No, singing as a rapper is stupid unless it's X rapper that Y magazine likes, so I'll make an exception for him. But everyone else sucks and listens to garbage rap because they don't have the same taste as I do!" Ugh.
