welcome to the BasilMarket Mario Kart 7 thread! here, you can discuss everything about Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS and find new friends to race and battle with. now that Christmas has been and gone, I'm hoping that enough of you have gotten your mitts on a copy of Mario Kart 7 to warrant a discussion thread. if you don't have a copy of the game yet but you do have a 3DS, I strongly recommend getting this game - the fun is almost literally endless, and I can guarantee you'll be playing this one for years (or at least until the release of the next MK title).
we also have a BasilMarket MK7 Community set up! using this feature, you can race against up to 7 other members of the Community without having to add a single friend code. note that you don't accumulate VR while playing in the Community [b]but[/b] you do earn coins towards your total, meaning you can easily unlock karts, wheels and gliders without having to repeatedly grind in the Grand Prix.

[b]IMPORTANT NOTICE[/b] - please do not make use of the Maka Wuhu/Wuhu Mountain Loop glitch! it's just pointless and doesn't earn you anything but infamy and enmity from other players. for those of you who don't know what the glitch is, [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X12LOUEgecs]this video[/url]demonstrates it pretty clearly. it essentially ruins the track and spoils the fun for everyone involved, so please don't perform the glitch while racing against other members of the Community. if you do happen to spot someone who keeps choosing Maka Wuhu/Wuhu Mountain Loop only to perform the glitch and get an easy win, try to make note of their username (and their Mii if they're using it) so that they can be publicly named and shamed in this thread. I highly recommend that, if a glitch user is spotted, everyone else in the room pelt them non-stop with every item they get until said glitch user is forced to leave the room.
as far as other rules go, please don't spam a track while playing in the Community. it only makes the game much more monotonous and tedious for everyone. if your track gets chosen, try to avoid choosing the same track multiple times in a row.
please also adhere to the rules of BasilMarket in this thread - that means don't go cussing someone out just because they red shelled you into a pit. it is only a game, so please have fun while playing and don't get angry over little things like item hits.
[b]STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO JOINING THE COMMUNITY[/b]
- open up Mario Kart 7
- go to "Online Multiplayer"
- once you've connected, go to "Communities" > "Enter Code" (at the top of the menu)
- type in the Community code (59-3349-7461-0737)
voil� ! you've joined the BasilMarket MK7 Community. if you're looking for a race but there's no-one else in the room at that moment, just post in this thread and ask if anyone's free! hopefully, someone will be around to come and join you online.
also, please bear in mind that the Community is suitable for all skill levels! not even the best players win every race, and even if you don't think you're very good at the game it'll be great experience for your races in 150cc and mirror modes and you'll have fun at the same time, so please don't feel afraid to join.

here, I will compile a list of all the known BasilMarket MK7 Community players so that you'll always know who it is you're playing against. to have your name added to this list, post your BasilID (using an @ tag - i.e. the "@" character followed by your BasilID) and then your Mii name. if, for whatever reason, you change your Mii's name, please [b]post in this thread[/b] and let me know so that I can amend it for you. [b]do not send me a PM[/b] or else your name won't be added to the list, it's as simple as that.

Not too fond of the Bowser Castle this time around(except for it's awesome music).[/quote]you don't like bowser's castle? it's one of my favourites! the underwater section with the lava plumes and the tricky turns is one of the coolest parts of the game in my eyes and yeah the music is also great
conversely though i'm not too big of a fan of rainbow road. i feel like it drags on a bit too much at times and the change in gravity on the moon part in conjunction with all the annoying craters and chain chomps just makes it a pain to navigate. i mean it's still not terrible but SNES rainbow road is so much more fun
i'd say my own personal favourite of the new courses is rosalina's ice world - mostly because of the music, but it's also just a nice enjoyable track to play on and finally breaks the long-running tradition of ice courses having terrible physics (don't even get me started on dk pass). i'm fine with most of the courses though. there's no course in MK7 that automatically makes me go "ugh i hate this" whenever it's chosen, unlike MKW

Not every stage is perfect, but the game has become one of my top MK's.[/quote]i totally agree with you on that one. my only criticism of the game would be the slightly small/disappointing character roster...although i suppose i only feel it's small in comparison to MKW's absolutely enormous one which is an unfair parallel honestly.
out of curiosity, what's your favourite new track? (open question which anyone can answer - i'd like to know how other people feel about the new courses)
@ProBlades i know, i'm getting a ton of errors too. seems like the further away from your router you're sitting, the more prone you are to errors which sucks. i sit in the same room as my router and i still get them pretty frequently, haha

good god! whoever that poor dutch guy was playing with me i'm so sorry i'm playing absolutely awfully tonight
i fell like 3 or 4 times on my own best course and then he ended up getting all my worst ones plus there was only the 2 of us so i kept just getting single mushrooms and green shells in last place. horrible horrible racing
@Moonlite yeah the elitism in clans really sucks sometimes, that's probably why i never joined one

that's cool that you were in a clan in mkw. i never was myself but i played sorta competitively? i mean i never held any WRs or anything but i did pretty good against most other players. some clans are still around in mk7 but a lot of them don't even play anymore which kinda sucks
@LampChops123 yeah it's a stupid glitch which has basically broken that track since if you don't perform the glitch, you're guaranteed to lose so everyone ends up using it and it's just not any fun. i just avoid playing wuhu mountain loop anymore if i'm honest
p.s. me and some other dutch guy are in the community room right now if anyone wants to join us! 2-person races are rarely any fun
So that's how i lost at Wuhu Mountain.... IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.
