I/l vs F/p
I've seen how strong F/ps can be unfunded, and am tempted to use that job advancement coin to try out how an F/p is. I rarely play my I/L anymore, so I won't regret the change too much, but my question is is it worth it to change? I'm only 135 right now on my I/L. Anyone have pros and cons about I/L vs F/p? If i enjoy FP i may go back to my mage
Keep in mind the changes coming within the coming year please. Haven't looked too much into it though

Maybe it's because my first main was my F/P but I loved training her and found my i/L to be almost unplayable. I don't know what it was about her but I could not stand training on my i/L, it was just so boring. I think maybe it was the fact that you can't tell what CL's attack range is from the skill. When you use Paralyze, a trail of fire shoots out so you can see how far it goes and adjust your playstyle accordingly. For i/L you can just sort of guess how close you have to be in order to hit monsters and I always seemed to be too far away. Also the delay on Frozen Orb was annoying and I thought the i/L hypers were really boring. I still think i/L skills are really pretty; I love Blizzard and Frozen Orb's animations, I just couldn't stand the class.
i/l is cool and has great combination. So has f/p. But imo i hate delays.
I/L Hypers are best. And i like blue so..
Start as F/P finish as I/L

Don't let the clothes fool you. At some point I thought that if I'm gonna sell out and play an I/L, I might as well look the part. And then I created the most obviously tacky outfit I could in order to wear ironically.
Definitely F/P.
I never really liked I/L. A friend pressured me into it when I was younger, I invested in it because he was invested in the game, and I stuck with it over the years because it's easier to commit to what I already have than it is to start over. To this day it's one of the worst decisions I've ever made, in gaming and in life. Regret is forever.
I've played all 3 mages and my personal order of favorites is
1.Bishop
2. I/L
3. F/P
I personally like I/L better than F/P because of it's faster mobbing and bossing. The delay for ME is just too long imo.
Can I ask, why do you not want to stay with mechanics?
I am staying with mechanic. I just want another character to jump on when I'm bored

The high damage comes at level 155 when the cd for mist eruption is removed.
surprisingly I liked bossing on my I/L better it was way smoother than my f/p and faster I feel like. The two classes are both good bossers and good mobbers so really pick which colors you like better and also keep in mind the different bossing strategies
well here are your pros and cons when compared to i/l
F/P Pros:
-very high damage at low range (thanks to ME)
-Hyper skill isnt as useless as I/l hyper skill
-Flaming Aura is pretty dam amazing on weak mobs
-DOT stacking
-Viral Slime can cover flat maps for you, if the mobs are weak enough
-only takes 600k range to cap with ME
-Promoting Mixtapes is a lot easier
F/P Cons
-You lose 25% critical chance because of CL adds 25%
-Paralyze is MUCH weaker than CL, but ME out damages CL for a long time
-I/L is a lot easier to control compared to F/P, but learning the control shouldn't take too long
-I/L hyper is bad and chilling step triggers DR
-Less teleport range
-Out damages F/P at 1m range
-Promoting mixtapes is a paradox as a I/L
fp are really strong against bosses, especially if you're not that funded
