Physics. My school has a nation-renowned Physics teacher as well as an amazing Calculus teacher so we're viewed as a STEM school. Generally, if people from school apply for Physics, they get accepted.
@thotsrus
UC admissions lack the funding to thoroughly review all applications. Provided that you hit a certain threshold in stats (steadily rising with each passing year), you're pretty much a shoe in.
EC's are more or less just a couple bullets on your app, and no one is actually going to bother to audit the info. provided. --get my point?
@blackest
Best of luck. With your stats/hook, I suggest you apply to a couple mid/top-tier privates. All in all, you'd have a much higher chance of scoring in this category.
ucsb avg gpa was 4.0 and sat 1980 so... gl
OP, you're black with a solid SAT, a solid GPA, and a bunch of extracurricular activities.
I don't see any UC rejecting you tbh. You might be waitlisted for Cal and UCLA, but you'll get accepted into the others for sure. All the UC's besides Cal and UCLA are trash.
@ThotsRUs:
Not really. You can have perf stats, no EC's, and basically gain acceptance to every UC. Tried and true.
@Blackest
Being an underrepresented minority gives you a pretty substantial bump. I'd say it brings UCSD in to the mix. Just make sure to highlight your background in your essays.

@Blackest with that SAT you should be content if UCSB accepts you. Berkeley and LA are out of reach for you. Apply to the rest, you never know.
FYI, UCs do not have affermative action so race is not a factor. They judge you strictly by your stats and ECs. Good luck.
It all depends on your race. If you are not white then you have a good chance to get into most of the UC's. If you are white... lol gl scrub u gon get rekt (I was had the same grades and SAT score as you and tried to get into UC's, but they all turned me down while most of other non white friends got in schools like UCSD and UCSB)
I'm a first-generation kenyan.
Santa Cruz, Merced, and Riverside accept pretty much everyone, unless that has changed this year.
I'm sure you have a chance at Davis, Irvine, and Santa Barbara, and maaaybe San Diego.
Los Angeles and Berkeley look for crazy smart students.
Best target - UCR
Best reach - UCI, UCSB, UC Davis
And yeah, definitely a good bet to up the SAT score. UC's judge heavily based on raw stats alone.
Basically this. Not a chance with the top tier UCs unless you have a really compelling story behind you.

Best reach - UCI, UCSB, UC Davis

UCSB, UCR, Merced, Berk, Santa Cruz, and SD/LA/but I think you'll barely make it imo.

UCSB, UCR, and UC Merced accepts anyone lol
