Anti-Scamming Tips?

So we have all been through this, trying to go around and make some profit or help a friend and just as
we become a bit too trusting BANG! we get scammed by a friend, a guild member or a common person
who was vouches by others. So do you have any particular way to identify "scamming behavior" so that
others might be saved?

I will give my 4 big ones:
1) Rushers: When trading a scammer will always try to make you make a mistake, trade you quickly for 99,999,999 and not 1B.
They will also try to tell you that they need to leave and that they can only do this "right now". NEVER trade a player that doesn't have time for you.

2) The mule switchers: Scammers often use mules that have nothing to tie their main accounts to it; mules with QT/ FM/ XxX/ random numbers (like Shop48932472)
should never be trusted UNLESS you have the player state that "Shop48932472 belongs to me" so you can tie it back to the source.

3) Counter flagging: the moment a scammer runs off with your item/money they will instantly say that you scammed them. This is also true for people
who fail at scamming and they just "burn" that mule. They used to spam "Random has scammed me don't trust that person" when they have failed.
it even gets worse when they succeed since you now have zero evidance and you start your fight with "negative support" since your name was flagged first.

4) False vouching: a good scammer will pick big names and say that they are his friends (in Windia it's people like CherryTigers, BunnyMass and BringerOfLag) make sure you check each name given to you since 90% of them will be either afk or offline. telling a person "I am the CEO of Nexon it's okay" is just as bad as using a false voucher

GreatBolshy posed several videos on youtube but I just can't stand his voice (URGH! it makes my IQ drop the longer I hear it)

Here's another one. Your vouchers are no good. Period. MY people need to vouch for you. If they can't sorry, but it just won't work out.

i don't see why you'd say "QT" igns have a good chance of being scammers, though. a few years ago QT igns were pretty popular
I.e QTBammbam, I promise it wasn't a scam!

@BlueLight: I have never been scammed o.o I get my own gear, or buy from FM, I buy my own NX and I self cube. If I do make a trade that is over the meso cap I buy items such as Nebs to count as the rest of the meso needed and the same in return if someone is buying from me. They stack and can do all meso + those in one trade. Anyone who wants to do more than one trade I tell them no and if they persist then I leave. I think I have a bad rep in Windia but I'm not sure and I really don't care. But at least I can say I've never been scammed nor do I scam ^^

Add this one.... before trading with your friends, make sure they are actually your friend and find out if they recently got hacked or not.... My friends skype and MS account was hacked so they talked to me like it was her on both skype and MS... i hate them more than the next guy...

I like this guide personally

In general I just ask others to go first. If the amount is fairly small I'm willing to accept weaker vouches or even just them being in a good guild, but anything involving large amounts of mesos I won't go first unless I've done a lot of trades with them before or they have a long list of vouchers/are well known as legit.

You can't get scammed if you're the one doing the scamming <3

I almost never go first, unless I know the person that I'm trading with, they have vouchers who I know, or if I'm desperate for whatever im trying to buy. The last is why I still get scammed occasionally (like 1 time a year). I have a bunch of well known legit vouchers so I don't usually need to go first

Don't deal with anyone who doesn't have vouchers, for one. Always ask your buddy list or guild/alliance if someone is trustworthy or not. And I think most guilds have a scammer list. This might not work in larger worlds but BelloNova is small to begin with...

Also, use common sense. Dealing with a level 16 beginner with no farm and no vouchers... probably steer clear of 'em.

I've realized that people will sometimes waver(?) over there decisions because of a person. To be safe, NEVER change the ways you do things for someone. I've seen people who usually never go first and then decide 'oh this person is trustworthy so I will go first'. You pointed out most of the big things for spotting a scammer.

Honestly the only people I ever get NX from are people I know IRL OR I actually established a relationship with outside of maplestory.
But, I guess another sign is when people are being too "nice" to you or are obviously trying very hard to get onto your "good" side in hopes that they seem "trustworthy enough".
Of course being nice is great but being too nice is borderline a little suspicious
Not everyone "nice" is like that but it never hurts to be careful with things like these. Forget vouchers, they are USUALLY untrustworthy, (unless you personally know them).
Really just comes down to your gut though sorry you had to lose so many "friends". But at least it's probably for the better
I would LOVE to know how you avoid all the scamming going around. I get scammed once every few months by "friends"
thank god that honesty always wins and those people either return what they have stolen or they get banned for their actions.
but that's besides the point. I just trust people

@Wordolio buying NX is against the ToS but everyone do it anyways. any tips on how not to get scammed when buying/selling anything else? like a scrolling service which involves the same amount of trust?
I only buy NX from like 3 people and I trust them enough to pay first but it doesn't really matter because we know the other party won't scam. As for service, I lied earlier I just remembered I got scammed out of my 12 attack CRA top during the shop with cog/icogs but I was just being careless.

All of your tips you mentioned seem pretty good, if you still get scammed after following those tips god help your trusting soul o.o

@Thiefy996 when you go out and you buy a T-shirt for $25 and you find out that it's a total fake that can't be wirth
more than $4 do you get mad? why did you get mad? because someone made a HUGE profit off YOUR back. but in the world of Maple it's
not only money. Sometimes items are being stolen and good reputation.
