Havent played in ages, not sure where to start

So yeah, it's been a couple of years since i've tried to get back into this game, and everything is so different now so I'm a bit lost. I'm probably going to end up starting fresh in a new server (suggestions would be nice!) with no funds or anything, so what classes are good without funds nowadays? I'm not really interested in playing any warrior class if that helps.

Thanks

I think most classes are decent now, funding matters more for high end bossing and it's more about the amount than your class. I hear Shades are good bossers, but horrible at training, if that's your cup of tea; otherwise, I'd just suggest choosing something you enjoy and play for fun, the damage will come later and with Empress equipment being relatively cheap for many classes and pieces now, you can just get that and slowly build up towards better things. You shouldn't have problems being unfunded with most classes, considering how the lower levels are cheap, quick and many classes are fairly strong; just keep a relatively up to date weapon, if you find any potential stats that are decent for you then use them, and once you get to 140 start working on getting Empress and the set bonus going.

I'd also suggest starting in a larger server, such as Scania or Windia, so that there are actually people playing. You shouldn't have many problems finding spots to train on them, and with more people it makes Stronghold, PQ's and in some regards bossing much less of a hassle than a server which has few players, where you may struggle to find people for them. Smaller worlds sort of lost their advantage with the readily available training spots with multiple revamps, in my opinion, but I'm unsure of how the markets work there so you may have an easier time gearing yourself up.

@AnnieCanMoo: if you had the literacy of a fourth grader, maybe you would understand my simple sentence.

@AnnieCanMoo: attempting to insult my gender/sexuality, when you yourself are probably what you make of me... pathetic. learn2playthegame

ALRIGHT LEMME MAKE THIS CLEAR TO U.
1. NO ONE WILL CARE ABOUT WHAT UR GONNA DO IN MAPLE. THATS JUST A GIVEN FACT OF LIFE. AND A FACT YOU SHOULD REMEMBER AND STAPLE TO YOUR EYEBALLS.
2. Do what u want.
3. Marksmen and Wind Archer are nice because takes very little money, although if you're starting fresh, just play the game and pick up mesos all the time when you're higher level. You really do make quite a bit if you try.

@SquishyxLuk: scania is probably your best bet due to the fact that it has a high population.

I came back about 2 weeks ago after about 15 months and all I did was just check out the events.
FwuffehStarz had the right advice, it's worth it to just check out the past patch notes and see what's changed.

If you're short on change then just training on level appropriate areas that you can 1-2 hit ko can yield positive meso gain as elite mob/bosses can drop upwards to prot scrolls as drops.
Some other things to check out are the professions, you can make cubes now (granted it still requires a very high level mastery).

I can't offer any advice on starting from scratch characters but since I know someone that gets to 100 and starts a new guy every week, I'm sure any class will work out fine if you find it enjoyable.

nice grammar
"an haircut"

I recommend reading all the update notes on the maplestory site and start on the update which you quit at, and read everything from there. It's your best bet to get the most information, rather than getting a summary on basil.

Okay. Thank you
