fradddd

Bring him outside more often and when he poops out there, reward him, with praise and petting and maybe a treat.
Positive reinforcement.

It might help a little to scold him when he poops inside, but don't hit him or anything.

It's POSSIBLE to train a dog to use a litter box or a designated spot in the backyard, it'll just be harder to train.

What you do is carry dog like a newborn baby. Making doggie noises letting him/her be a part of your family. Attempting to communicate is the most important. Letting him/her behave like an animal and he/she will behave like one.

Discipline. Dont buy dog bones all the time. Infact limit yourself to giving him/her like 3 bones a week. Potty train him/her. Show him/her alots of love. A backyard is neccessary for a happy dog but not really if you take him/her alot. Cuddle with your dog too they love it even if they are distant.

you have to take the dog out constantly and wait around till they pee/poop and when they do give them a high five (or a lot of praise) eventually they will realize poop outside=good and poop inside=bad

DONT DO WHAT @VIETUA SAID

this is why i have a cat he learned how to poop in a box and as a bonus knows where the litter mat is so he just wipes his paws there after he's done
but for srs a lot of ppl in my area do crate training

What my family always does is you buy puppy pads, you put some on the floor, and gradually you get to the door, and then you just start putting him outside on a leash, eventually they catch on and then hopefully they tell you when they need out, if not there is usually a tell sign of some sort, like one of our dogs with go on her back and start going crazy (kinda like she is "swimming" on her back) whenever she needs out, otherwise we just watch for her to move towards the back door, and this seems to work out for us.
