I love his new Gear 4 look haha. Wonder if he has multiple forms for it? Like "Bounce Man" is one of the modes, kinda like Chopper with Rumble Balls? It's just a theory and could be completely wrong, but who knows what Oda has planned?
But that's what I like about One Piece, Oda intentionally makes Luffy a joke even when he's being badass. Luffy is one of those characters you're just not supposed to take really seriously. For a purely badass character you have Zoro!
I like that, never thought of it like that. I agree
It went along with the theme some people were guessing: Gear 2 = blood enhancement, Gear 3 = bone enhancement, Gear 4 = muscle enhancement. It was definitely different, but I could see it being pretty cool in the future. I don't think this will be Luffy's final power up, unless there's more to the gear they haven't shown. But the ability to Moonwalk combined with his increased 1v1 attack and defense is pretty cool.
Also, what's up with the haki markings? They look cool, but why didn't he just go full body haki? And what's with the dark rings around his eyes? (Looks almost similar to sage mode from Naruto) I wonder what the drawback is though, considering he hasn't used it until now since the timeskip. Will it make him just skin and bones for a period after?
maybe he didnt go full body haki because he wouldn't be as bouncy/elasticy

It's pretty cool (the technical stuff, as well as the techniques that come with), but it just doesn't seem as exciting as I thought it would be o__o. Maybe it was the way it was executed? it's not as 'explosive' as I wanted it to be. Still great though
The biased opinions on the forums though . In fact, I already see one here. Well, I guess it was expected lol.

I don't know if it's just me, but Luffy's Gear 4 makes him look like the time he absorbed those shadows in Thriller Bark

Dam. I think the forum was mangafox but some guy they guessed it. "coating himself in haki and growing bigger all around to improve defence and attack" I loved the possibilities tho. Some people were saying: Luffy Second: Speed Luffy Third: Power Luffy Fourth: Smarts But I find it 4th gear acceptable. It compensates for his attack power and defence. Unique looking too
They with a Comical style I guess...It fits Luffy and OP but if we are gonna see him in this "Panda" mode every time he gets serious then lol I won't be able to take his fights seriously.
I didn't mind it, it gave him the power boost he needed without the drawbacks of gear 3rd. But at this point all we know about it is that he developed it to survive on the island and dont know much further.

Its not just you. He does seem to resemble nightmare Luffy.
Large torso, small legs, "eyeliner," scowl.

Just wait for the side effect. He'll probably look like he had a failed liposuction procedure done to him.

Kind of lame to be honest. But this is One Piece, so.
