Do any of you who say it's white and gold have any idea what the word "context" means? Or "lighting", or "optical illusion" for that matter?
Where the f are you people seeing black? I can understand the blue because the shadow on the dress is making the white look blueish...but...black? How is gold black? ?
I mean, optically the colors are blue and brownish to me, but if we saw this dress out in normal sunlight its true colors would be gold and white
it has been confirmed 100% that the dress is black and blue.

@TrueAtheist: now I'm just wondering what kind of messed up lighting the original poster was in to take such an off colored image...

Nope, the actual color of the dress is black and blue. This is what it actually looks like:

Look at the picture of the dress from the store it is sold, and it is dark blue&black - tilt your laptop monitor back to see it change colors too.
Once you see a picture of what it looks like in normal lighting (i.e. the blue&black stripes from the store catalogue) it's obvious and you don't see it as white/gold anymore when you look at the picture.

At first I saw it as Gold&White (gold with bluish white thinking it was because of the shadow) then I was messing with my phone camera settings and took a picture set as "cloudy" and now it looks Blue&Black.

Light blue and brown (went on paint took the colors) At I first though it was white and gold but the lighting is terrible made it seem that in my opinion.

this is stupid, its a stupid angle with crap lighting, its like asking someone if a stack of money is all $1 bills or $100 bills judging by the bill at the top of the stack

Its Black and Blue because the crappy light source is reflecting off the fibers of the black ( "gold" ) cloth, that or the black is just faded out to poop so it looks brownish gold

It was white and gold and then I inverted the colors on my phone and it was still white and gold. Then I returned the colors to normal and it was blue and black.

It's blue and black. That dress isn't made in white & gold. Just the crappy lighting.

I see gold and blue.
Even after screwing around with the brightness, I don't see where pitch black is supposed to be coming from.
I can easily imagine where the white/blue can come from, but black escapes me entirely.

I couldn't see the black at first either.
Try dimming your screen to the darkest it can go, and then form a hole using your hand and look through the hole to stare at the screen for a long time.
After a while, the gold somewhat looks like black.
its black and blue
i thought it was white and gold at first, because i thought the white only looked blue because there was a shadow cast on it and the cold was dark because of that shadow
however after much thought i now see the truth
it is black and blue
because there is no shadow.
and if you consider the quality of the photo (hard light from the background means theres hard light on the dress itself also cause that is the quality of the camera) then the dress, if darkened down would surely be black and blue
Both my parents swear they see white & gold while my brothers and I see black and blue.
