Giving up Pokemon

okay this covers 3 of the separate sections here so I'm just gonna put it in the Nintendo one...

I've been playing it since I was 7 years old. I played every generation since the first one. After D/P/Plt, I've lost most of my interest in it, especially competitive battling. I only played B/W, X/Y, and ORAS for the sake of playing the new game and beating it. I haven't made any new pokemon for battling however. I just transferred my old ones all the way from Plat and haven't even touched them after transferring.

I'm thinking about selling my pokemon games to gamestop (already sold X and every generation before that, but I still have my digi copy of Y and Alpha Sapphire), I'm even considering selling my 3DS and other games since I barely play it anymore. I have the limited edition Yoshi 3DS so I'm considering not selling it as well because I know some crazy collector nut would buy it off me for like $300 or more. As for the other 3DS games, I barely play them. I just enjoy PC games more for some reason.

I also don't play my xbox one anymore. The only reason I got it (which was 2 months ago) was to play Destiny with my brothers. I also got Adv Warfare, Minecraft (I have NO IDEA why I bought it), Diablo 3 (I bought it because I heard it was g ood and it was on sale for 20 bucks! that was a sold DEAL). I haven't touched Diablo 3 though! Been busy with school and busy playing other games instead.

I bought a PS Vita yesterday and I'm enjoying it a lot. I like some of the games and plan on buying more when I get money. The graphics on it are sweet and the screen is amazing. But the wifi on it really sucks for some reason. Always has trouble connecting to the playstation server and it loads pages on the browser super slow. Maybe I just think its slow because my phone is just way too fast (Galaxy S5) and I'm not sure how PS servers are so maybe they are always that crappy.

SO WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Should I sell my 3DS and games?
Should I sell my Xbone too?

I plan on keeping the Vita so there's not returning it or anything.

There wasn't much to do end game in X/Y. ORAS is a remake yes with Gen6 mechanics but they could still have improved the game (not just Gen6 graphics and mega evolutions). The lack of functional multi battles just sucks in Gen6. I was hoping that they would improve it in ORAS. Even in ORAS there isn't much to do end game.
I think multi battle is really fun. I played it with some random people. I think we were all noobs (my pokemon team were not ready for competitive battles, they were just the one I was using for storyline), because we had equally chances to win the match.

Not to mention the storyline haven't been the greatest thing in Pokemon games.

I started with Pokemon Blue, which was awesome even though there weren't many features but at that time Pokemon was starting to get known worldwide. It was a new game, we wanted more. I played Pokemon Gold which was very fun too, with better graphics and we could get more than 8 badges, some new pokemons.

Then I played Pokemon Sapphire, even though the game did come with some new features, it didn't appeal me anymore and everything get so repetitive even the storyline. I beat the game and didn't bother to check out anything else anymore. It was game over.

I skipped every Pokemon game that came out after Gen3 until X/Y. I bought my 3DS XL around the time X/Y was released. I wouldn't even have bought the game but I still gave it a chance, who knows after all those years it might be a nice game now. And besides people were so hyped about it. The game was short. It was nice to be able to dress up your main character to differentiate yourself from other players. Mega evolution is a nice feature but some Pokemons they have selected are just I don't know...OP? Some of them didn't even need one.

I bought Alpha Sapphire just for the sake to get the other mega stones too and play this remake in gen6 graphics. I bought it on release day but started to play the game in February lol.
The only thing I do enjoy still are the competitive battles although it's very hard when you don't bring decent Pokemons. I lose more than I win (if I'm lucky 50/50 but my team doesn't have any legendary pokemons though. Many people do use them for easy wins when used properly) in rating battles or official battles. I make more chances in Free battles but I have lost more than enough there too. I might need to transfer some other Pokemons from XY to increase my chances. I don't have that many competitive pokemons in ORAS yet. Because the new mega evolutions in ORAS are OP and the main legendaries in their primal form are not easy to beat either.

@Ecyz although I have not played gen4 and gen 5 (bw/bw2) I agree with you that the games are lacking in many ways. Some people don't even play competitive battles if I was one of them, I wouldn't even buy these games because the storylines are so bad.

Well I guess it was nice while it lasted.
X/Y was extremely good and had a lot of end game things to do. ORAS dug the grave even deeper? how? it's just a remake not a new game
Excessive handholding, lack of content, unbalanced meta, ridiculously easy solo play, performance issues, sub-par pokemon designs (subjective), lack of any organized thought on new Mega Evolutions and the stat boosts they provide, and lack of thought on how to balance said Megas for regular Pokemon.
X/Y did not have "a lot of end game things to do", don't kid yourself. Did you never play B/W2? Go ahead and compare the amount of content in XY to that, I'll wait. Or hell, even Emerald had more content.
It's common gamedev knowledge (and the entire basis of iterative design) that you aren't supposed to remove features with every iteration, and I feel like Gamefreak missed that memo.

First time I ever played Pokemon was pokemon red at the library on an emulator. Second game was emerald, and that game was so much fun, had good end game content and story. I got pearl later on, it was alright but the battles took forever like seriously, the game ran at least 3x slower then the gba ones. I also got platinum for the battle frontier, it was decent but not nearly as good as the Hoenn one. Soul silver was pretty good since I didn't own gold and silver, but after that game I stopped playing pokemon for a while. Skipped black and white, but my friend bought me white 2 and I played the hell out of that game. I actually ev trained up a team with decent ivs and faced my friends at school almost everyday, so much fun. X and Y was a major dissapointment for me. Hardly any new pokemon, more op pokemon, the storyline was so bland. I didn't beat the game for 3 months because of it, and there was very little end game content. It just didn't feel the same even though mega evolutions were an interesting concept, I would have rather had actual evolutions. When I heard ruby and sapphire remakes wouldn't have the battle frontier, I gave up on pokemon.

X/Y was a big disappointment and ORAS dug the grave even deeper, I wont touch another Pokemon game for the rest of my life. At least as long as Gamefreak owns it.

i actually liked pokemon Y and sapphire....
probably cause those were the first poke games i have played in a while. i played crystal, sapphire, leafgreen, and diamoned versions only. you probably wont be getting that much back from gamestop, so just keep them to collect dust.
I actually got more than I thought from Gamestop when I sold a few games a couple days ago to get my Vita. Along with the gift cards and games I just sold, I only had to pay $52 for my Vita along with a game lel. Oh and also I have the pro membership so I got a bit more for each game I sold.

I never thought several other people would be in the same boat as me. I couldn't muster up the motivation to beat ORAS and I sold X/Y off right away.

I think I went up to Generation 3 in both the game and the show. After that I stopped with pokemon.
The Vita is for sure a fun thing. Japanese localized game is best.

I quit Pokemon after 3rd gen (Played Gold, Yellow, Sapphire, and FireRed in that order).
Welcome to the club.

I know that feel about pokemon. I played Blue, Yellow, Gold, Crystal, Diamond, X, and Ruby. When I got to X, I made a competitive team for battle spot and haven't changed it at all. I only bought Ruby so I could continue battle spot. I sense that's the only reason for me upgrading pokemon games now.

I don't like my Vita, but Terraria, Minecraft, Mortal Kombat 9, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Rogue Legacy were good games.

Hell even ps1 games like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Gex 3, Resident Evil 1-3, Dino Crisis 1 and 2 were good to play.

I say keep it in case you ever choose to pick it up again. I'd doubt that collectors would pay much for pokemon games especially with that pkhex program that lets people make more or less any pokemon including old event ones..
