Metal Gear Solid 5

To anyone who played this game, do you think it lived up to the hype?

To me, I think the phantom hype was real, but I can't put my arm to the fact that it's been rated mostly 9s and 10s.

Nevertheless I have been playing nonstop, now trying to S rank all the missions to unlock secret gear.

Running mostly nonlethal pays off over time, just like how it was for me on Peace Walker.
People keep saying this but, 90% of what Konami does is what most companies do. Might as well boycott farms that produce your food or well probably almost everything that is around you.
Is your first name Iroquis or Snake by any chance?

I'm really not sure how...if you like video games in any sense whatsoever...buying metal gear solid 5: phantom pain would be anything other than a GREAT idea.

Seriously guys. Call of Duty, Battlefield 4, etc...those are $60 dollar games and yet they last no longer than 4-6 hours. You can platinum these games in 20 hours tops.

Then you have MGS5...a game where, after putting in 130 hours...is still far from being completed. The game is stunningly incredible. Yes, there are things to criticize about the game - but to me these minor details are easily dismissed in just how much fun, how much content, how much diversity of game play there is thoughtout the game. Seriously. Yes, again, I do acknowledge minor issues - but these are applied and utilized wholeheartedly and fully without apology. Basically when the game reaches the limits of the software and the Fox Engine it cuts a few corner. But these corners are cut in order to ignore a limitation and just keep going to open hundreds of new doors of ideas and tools and on and on and on and on and on and on.

Seriously. Friggin buy the game.

If you like games in ANY sense whatsoever - this game is tied with Witcher 3 as having the absolute most value compared to cost. It's just absolutely incredible that a game with 200-400 hours of unique and incredible gameplay and story is literally the same price as a <10 hour game like Call of Duty. It's laughable.

You will get far more than your money's worth in this game. You will have seemingly endless fun. You will have things you obsess on for years. You will make the best use of your money possible this year - if you buy MGS5. Now go do it and stop idly jabbering on Basilmarket because you're not sure if a game for $60 containing 200-400 hours of incredible gameplay is worth it.

I'm laughing at you COD. You fuggin casual. Go to bed, ur drunk.

CONTAINS SPOILERS
Dis whole thing is gonna include spoilers on the game. Don't read it if you haven't finished the game or don't mind being spoiled. Don't know how to do the new spoiler function either so... Whatever.

I loved the gameplay. Redoing missions, trying different methods or routes were fun (Nonlethal stealthy or going berserk with my near fully upgraded D-Walker) and Mission variety was great. Extract this guy, kill this guy, find out this etc. It was great.
However, I felt nearly all boss fights were so lackluster. Especially the Man on Fire. He was hyped up to be this important figure and someone that you would meet around often and battle with. But it was just running away. Even the full boss fight with him just ends 5-10 minutes later with rain pouring down or just pushing him into water. Then he dies in the worst way. I hated the way he died.
The Quiet boss fight was interesting but it was pretty easy. You could do the cheap way by supply crate or have a sniper battle that's pretty easy.
Salenhantropus was just a rocket spam fest and that was pretty easy.

The base was fun as. I don't know why my soldiers love pain but whatever. Punching em were great fun. Then they just thank you after. Expanding and getting better soldiers were fun. Although that dam virus... Even though I found out the source pretty fast I still lost like 2 A+ soldiers and like 5 As .

The game's length was amazing. Especially since most games now a day have like 8 hours. Only game with the same length this year would be Witcher 3.
Story was pretty interesting. Although I haven't played most of the older games, I still knew some of the lore so I could understand it. However most MG fans hated the true ending, I'm not even a big fan and it kinda pissed me off.

Overall I found the game incredible but... I wouldn't put it at GOTY. I feel as if Fallout will be better or that Witcher can stay on top.
You think Quiet was easy with the supply drops? Try [EXTREME] Mode. You get ohko'd without best armor and you only get 2 seconds per shot. Worst, she doesn't fall for boxes, but maybe tanks...

KIKONGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO >.< worst part of the game.
other than that, i find the game very enjoyable.
i should really change up my strategy, but playing all the MGS games has taught me to go in non-lethally. and i gotta use d-walker, i haven't even touched that thing yet.

Yes, I think it did. O_O

Definitely worth the money. Probably more worth the money than any game so far this year, Witcher 3 aside.

Got tired of Metal Gear Solid 4. Wanted to do it non-lethal no spotting and resets took too long.

Metal Gear Solid 5's reflex made it doable, and is very enjoyable. I thought the story and execution for fun and epic at the same time.
