Expiring gems?

I have been questing and saved up for the third biggest farm and bought it. Now I started saving for the biggest and was up to 4 gems when I logged in and saw I had only 1 gem. Do they now expire? I am already disappointed that they changed some of my oddities to S rank. I prefer only A+ so I can just spend warus to revive it.
