Edm trap music theory

Just got into trap recently. I've been browsing trapcity, alltrapmusic, etc on youtube. Finding a good song is like finding a needle in a haystack....
I noticed that out of the trap songs with rapping, the quality of the rap is inversely proportional to the quality of the trap parts.
Good rap features weak trap instrumentals at best.
And good trap features absolutely atrocious rapping.
why can't we have both

Nevertheless, chill trap is pretty consistently good

Wasn't uplifting trance the one that tends to be the more chill type?
Yeah there isn't any variations between the step family. They think having the pitch slightly changed and the speed a little off makes a new genre but it just makes a new song. Look a rock music, lots of sons fall under rock, anything from straight guitar solos to insane yyz. Electronic users just love classification though and come up with insane genres that only include one or two songs. Like there's psybent deep space techno but I've only seen one song in that genre. Brostep is the exact same as dubstep just they use spinets of audio from movies or other songs. Chillstep is just the dubstep songs slowed down. In any other genre like rock, pop, country, these would just be the same sub-genre but differently played.
While I agree that many of the subgenres are synonymous with one another, many of your generalizations are false.
Brostep is the same as dubstep because its a subgenre of dubstep.
Chillstep/melodic/liquid dubstep has many names but it is fundamentally unique and vastly different from brostep. It's actually not slowed down.... it's still 140bpm but the notes are sustained longer. Theres more melodic complexity (in terms of chords and arpeggios), deeper subbass, smoother saw synths, etc. Brostep has a greater variety of timbres tho.

Compare Seven Lions to Skrillex
They sound nothing alike but they're sitll both dubstep

You probably didn't listen to enough of it to understand the subgenres.
I can never distinguish between all the types of electronic music. I think I like dubstep and chillstep and perhaps brostep. But Merriam-Webster aren't exactly telling me the true meaning of all these terms if you catch my drift.

OT: Does "trap" music always have to have lyrics? Cuz if not, then I may have some suggestions for the TS.
Nope, trap does not require lyrics. 808s and super fast hi-hats come to mind when I think about it.
Also its the only EDM subgenre that somewhat frequently implements arabic sounding bass drops

they put crappy rap in there on purpose to not take away from the EDM elements
if the rap is too good that will distract from the trap mixing

ehhh i liked the instrumentals of the first one
didnt really like the 2nd one but i used it to prove the point of trap music getting set back by awful rapping

this kind of stuff

Trap EDM emphasizes its EDM elements and thus it is not the same as trap rap.
But yeah trap rap is also full of good beats and bad rappers.
