Mega always is +100 BST so it has to go somewhere. unless you really want Mega Salamence to gain even more Atk or Speed. or Sp.A. take your pick
as I mentioned previously, looking strictly at dmg output, some Megas don't actually do more. like Swampert (not that it is usually used as an attacker) or Blaziken if we use a previous one. loss of LO or Choice can be a big difference. bulky ones not having access to Leftovers is a big deal for some, too.

some of them don't even have Abilities that help at all. Prankster Sableye is probably prefered. Slowbro's original Ability will also likely make it superior. Primal Abilities changes how they're used completely since you can't boost other Pokemon anymore (for Singles) and remember, Choice or LO means they don't actually do much more dmg if at all.

each Gen is going to have its good ones and bad ones. Power-Up Punch Kangaskhan? Pinsir? Charizard? Mawile? Medicham? Lucario?
Arguably, the only "bad" Mega in previous gen was Garchomp. this Gen has a few more that are questionable. some of the initially seeming OP additions aren't as completely broken, like Beedrill (since it has a crap movepool of STAB only reach 80 BP and otherwise weak coverage). Pidgeot would be a One-Trick Wonder with Hurricane (and in turn will get hit by Thunder or Blizzard if those happen to be around) and especially poor Special Move pool.

maybe the "stars" of this Gen may be much better than the previous generation as a whole, compared to last Gen's best and how much it really increases the power creep is debatable. the disrupted speed tiers could be a problem but that's hard to analyze (Lucario also broke 100, too, even if banned. some others reached 100).
The +100 still applies but the stat distributions are better in oras. The abilities may be worse but the stat distribution improvements more than make up for it.
Beedrill lost SpA and gained more than 100 values of Atk and Spe. And most 100 bst improvements don't even fully apply unless the mon is mixed. While it is flawed, as you mentioned, it's concept demonstrates the streamlining of stats and better distributions.
The speed creep makes a larger difference than you probably probably think. Part of the reason lando-I and thundo-I are used are purely for the +1 speed creep.
And even the 110 megas in this generation threaten the hidden power lati@ses.
This generation of megas are so much better than those of the last generation, not even comparing them to non megas
The speed tiers are really disrupted now that the 100 speed wall is demolished
A lot of them also have extra bulk that honestly does not need to be there
do remeber, Mega powercreep is somewhat mitigated by the fact that they can't hold items. so no LO means Mega aren't necessarily stronger hitters. the defensive ones don't get Lefties.
though it's still only somewhat. we all know that 120 Speed, 145 Atk, Aerilate with Thrash or something Mega Salamence is gonna get banned so fast

though I do question why Kyogre gains 50 Atk and Groudon gains 50 Sp.A
