"Ass" is still censored for character names, which means Mass and Pass and Lass aren't possible. Luckily, Nexon whitelisted Assassin and Assasin, but, that's still very limiting.

That is to say, a lot of old names are censored now, sadly. Might be a good rule that, if the name can fit more characters, you test it with additional characters before deleting the one you have.

@genostigma: i mean the skinny is that the spelling, colonel, takes from Italian (colonello) whereas the pronunciation takes from French (coronel/coronelle). and then the resulting differences between Am and Brit English are just because Am English is rhotic whereas Brit English is largely non-rhotic.
