@hangwithhung: It's really fast, way faster DPS than just orb+CL. Also a thing to note, if you cap and don't need freeze stacks, using orb is only margianlly faster. Here's a video of me doing Hellux, you can check out the hyper when I reach the third part of him.

(note, this video is unlisted)

You can't quite see the lines of my hyper in that video umm... you can see it in this video fairly well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2Vhpzm0e_o that person isn't quite capping but ya. Such a fun skill to use imo!
This skill used to suck pretty bad, but ever since they made it 7? lines it's amazing.

@funkyflame wait you mentioned the 170 hyper is hurricane speed? I knew it was fast but... didn't really think it'd be better than just spamming CL forever haha.

@hangwithhung: Yeah I mean it's a matter of preference, I do not enjoy training on a Bishop but the extra EXP is really nice. Up to you~

@funkyflame tbh i just 70% traced because i'm too lazy to find a 60% for m.att whether through quests and i really just needed to total 120 starforce so I could train at SDH with a bishop atm, planning to switch back to I/L but I might save that coin. Still have a few days to use it. Anyway at the moment, it's pretty easy to wreck mob-heavy areas as Big Bang hits hard, fast, and a ton of mobs at once. That +30% EXP hyper makes bishop a monster when it comes to DIPQ.

@galcecon1 it is pretty nice but it's only for ~8 seconds and I think there's a 1 minute cooldown on it. Definitely pretty good but the way I see it atm it's a perk, not something I'd play the class exclusively for. Not too big of a fan of skills with cooldowns, i'd rather have a less significant but more consistent skill to rely on when it comes to doing damage. However that might change after I start bossing more. I was interested in I/L initially in that my control is pretty bad, what with the laggy internet and my general laziness and I've seen how useful Chain Lightning is at Gollux in keeping the little nasty critters from reaching the middle while at the eyes. None of the other mages can do that and given I/L's general speed and stability in damage (no need to keep toggling things except going between Frozen Orb and CL), I thought it might be the better one to use when it comes to bossing in general as well. Only downside is that the reach of CL is, in all honesty, pretty bad and rather inconsistent when it comes to mobbing so training is booty for sure. Probably great back in the day when mobbing was actual work(e.g. Leafre maps) but now that you can more or less one shot mobs and bossing's really the only way to make money, I'm just looking for utility and easy control when it comes to bossing. So I'm thinking Bish -> I/L when I feel I've done well enough to do some heavy damage to bosses.

At this moment I'm not really looking for a class in the way of play/fun as much as I am funding, which more or less has to come through bossing so... at the moment I was thinking Gollux and Commerci. From what I've been told, Commerci's not as viable as it once was for churning a profit and Gollux... Iunno, I feel I should probably be looking more to boss for cubes and I can kind of get those cubes from most low level bosses I don't need to party up to take down (Zak, HT, Hilla, etc.).

Something's up in the forums about how RA gear is going to go to trash and will become something rather useless too haha. Wooh, decisions decisions.

I'm not too sure what the hyper of the other mages are, but I/L hyper is pretty op. The attacking hyper does 7 lines of damage and lasts for 8 seconds. Imagine Frozen Orb, but a bit faster and 7 lines. Also, this hyper is large enough so that you can use it and not get hit by Gollux's breath.

Both F/P and I/L have Elemental Decrease, so that's a choice. Bishops, they have elemental resistance decrease, but it's more spread out. I/L and Bishops have naturally high Critical Rates. Not sure about F/P mages though.

@piana: They're somewhat rare, but the demand for them isn't super high either. You get one if you do Krexel prequest, and another one is obtainable from some quest but I forget which.

Survivability, Bishop. I also think they have the best 1v1 DPS after the coming changes? If you like their main attack or not, that's for everyone to decide. I personally consider I/L to be the most "balanced" of the two, but it's really up to everyone to decide for themselves. The good thing is you can main whatever you like and have the option to change at any time! Since they're all explorers (:

Good luck!

@hangwithhung: I'd personally recommend a VIP Magician Shield, or the Last Unwelcome shield. Don't get a Prelude as they are U/T upon equipping. What @Piana: said with Gollux scroll, I'd personally just 60 it with Shield For M.atk tbh. Unless you're planning on dropping billions on it to perfect it, go with the regular scrolls. iCoGs are pure evil.

Some pros and cons:

Bishop:
Pro: HS, fastest 1v1 DPS out of the 3 after the revamp hits(not too great rn), Door, Res. skill
Cons: Rather repetitive to play, mobbing is mediocre

I/L:
Pro: Longest bind in game+it makes you invincible, Freeze status slows down bosses, Easy AF Gollux kills, Really OP hyper(7 Line hurricane for 8 seconds, makes dailies a breeze)
Cons: Post-Revamp not quite as strong 1v1 as Bishop, mediocre mobbing, Frozen Orb has a rather long cast time, so you need to learn to time it(can be telecasted, though)

F/P:
Pro: DoT skills, best mobbing out of the 3, easy to cap with (rn)
Con: Probably the weakest of the 3 post revamp(maybe now?), takes the most effort to keep DPS up

Just my thoughts, they're honestly all great, balanced classes! I suggest watching videos on Youtube or just simply try them all!

@piana: I don't think flame haze actually works on bosses tho? At least I've never noticed o.o

@believemenot yeah i'm kind of debating between I/Ls and Bishops. Not really sure which one to take. Both sound good but if you care to comment, here's what I'm considering in more detail.

Nobody posted on this one yet so I wanted to post on the general forum and ended up in the Corsair forum lol

A lot of people say that F/P is the most well-rounded explorer mage. However, if you just want survivability, a bishop is obviously the best.
