Don't put points into Resistance. Otherwise it kinda depends how you want to play the game. Endurance is pretty much a must for everybody, but it's more important for a warrior than it is for say, a mage. I'm not entirely sure how stat distribution for mages work, but for a typical sword and board warrior you typically want to put points into Vitality and Endurance, and put points into Strength and Dexterity if you have a weapon in your inventory that you want to use, but don't meet the requirements of. It's typically best not to go past the minimum requirements until Vit and End are at their soft cap.

Also, here are a few tips for you.
1. If you go back to Undead Burg, before the staircase to the tower (the one you went up to fight the Taurus demon), you can go down and you'll see a Black Knight. If you kill him, he has a chance to drop his sword. It's a very strong weapon that not only is going to pretty much one-shot everything early game, but it will also scale quite nicely later on. In fact, it could potentially get you through the entire game, if you upgrade it. There is a chance you won't get it, but you might as well try.

2. Upgrade your weapons. I guarantee you that you WILL want to do this. Reinforcing your weapons adds very nice stat bonuses, which will really help your DPS. The game gets much harder otherwise.

3. Do not use the Drake Sword. I'll say it again; do not use the Drake Sword. It is the worst kept secret of Dark Souls, and it's quite popular of an item. Yes, it will do an amazing amount of damage early on, and it will swing pretty fast; in fact, it might seem like the strongest weapon ever once you do get it, but I strongly advise against it. The reason why I say this is because it's very easy to get used to it, you're not really going to learn the mechanics of this game, and you won't be upgrading any other weapons. It has no damage scaling with your Str or Dex stats, so it will only do a flat amount of damage, and the materials you need to upgrade it are fairly difficult to obtain. This means that eventually, it is going to lose its effectiveness, and once it does you're going to have nothing to replace it with. Worst case scenario you're going to get to Anor Londo with it, by which time you'll experience a massive decrease in damage, and the only way you're going to get another weapon is to backtrack through Sen's Fortress (aka Castle of Fun). Seriously, it's not worth it. Besides, the Black Knight Sword that I mentioned earlier is better.

spend souls to lvl, buy stuff, upgrade stuff and everything else needed.
str for strength based weapons, like blunt objects and hammers
dex for finess items ala utchikatana
int for spell slingers
faith for cleric types

one more thing: prepare to die... alot
