Maplestory if the tank/dps/healer roles mattered

Would you enjoy the game more if things more balanced and fixed? For example going into party quests, Tanks pull agro, dps attacks, and healer heals/buffs/protects. You get tries again at the start of a dungeon if you fail instead of just auto kick out. Damage has always been the biggest topic of MS since you can fund character to the point of soloing, but would you prefer this system if Nexon was able to do it well? It seems MS2 might run off this system, if regular MS did too, would you be more inclined to stay or just more interested in general? What other changes would you like to see to make the game more balanced?

God yes I'd love to see that happen; though as some have said already, it's already past that point it seems... If somehow they were to imply this I might just go for ms2 still (after playing it for a while to make a better judgement), just for the customize-ability of (what seems like) everything.
The thing that i 'wanted' to see rather than our copy of Farm Ville was (I think i mentioned this a long time ago) our own house that you can customize via etc. drops. I always find that most etc. items other than boss entry types, pretty frickin' useless. With that in mind i really like creating stuff to my own liking until I hit something that I love so much that i wouldn't ever want to change, so that might be that person in me that wants that (plus the other me that hates throwing stuff away so I'd like to make use of all these useless etc monster drops).

maple used to have this system to some degree. stationary bosses like HT and Zakum of course didn't permit it, but warriors would rush the bosses at CWK while the DPS (NLs and other attackers) did damage. A bishop was also brought for heals, revive, and other buffs

I don't personally believe MS1 should change. MS2 will possibly work like that (I've not looked into it much and I likely won't), but MS1 works nicely as it is.
Every character is essentially capable of doing something better than others, but they can all do great damage at the end of the day.
It is a rather nice thought, though.

@Avatar
And then a boss 1/1s everyone and WE ALL CRYYYYY!
I remember when I came back to maple after another one of those "I quit" breaks and finding out that dojo was no longer the same I honestly got upset. It was one of the best party things I did
One of my best memories in maplestory was going to the mu lung dojo (the original one). Channel 1 was always full of people and it was fun trying to get a diverse party to strategize and beat the bosses. When people were low on hp the tankiest class would go 1v1 and everyone else would hide back. bishops stayed back to dispel and heal in the corner. I think that was the closest this game was to what you are describing.
Even that can be fun, but this game is too far gone in my opinion sadly. I wish it wasn't. This game is my dearly beloved childhood that I enjoyed very briefly. Nexon wanted to make money off of it, and in the end they are now -15% in revenue with an expected loss of another 5% on the charts from Nexon. It's sad,and they didn't even get a lot out of this. They lost money instead, and now it ain't looking too pretty. People say the game doesn't look close to shutting down, or that Nexon won't tell them. They don't realize no business will say they are closing. The marketing scheme was also bad since all servers are on different updates according to region(GMS,KMS,JMS,EMS.CMS. all that jazz) We can predict what's good to invest in, and what isn't. While that's good for us it's bad for the company. This is probably why they are launching MS2 worldwide.

To be fair, kaiser's are probably the hardest warriors to fund up to hit hard. Their gimmick is actually hitting fast.

OT: Paladins live by this. We tank all the damage and threaten . They're about to nerf us so we can't do as much damage anymore either, so we'll basically live the support role as intended. It'd be cool if roles were taken more serious but I think implementing it would be a extremely difficult thing. As mentioned: LF> 200+ content first...
Yeah I agree, especially this far in. I feel like nerfing you guys is almost unfair because they don't commit to roles.

If they actually balanced things out I'd love to be a tank.

Pally is love. Pally is life. <3
@HorrorsLove: Isn't it only 15$ monthly for WoW? Compared to some of the things that cost in CS (even though you're not required to buy them). Yeah, Nexon has a lot of useless content. It's great they added content like Kritias and Gollux with the token shops, but they take so long to get... </3

And the stupid events they bring back every year, with the coin shops having the same content. </3 Homecoming.. Halloween.. Ugh.
Yeah 15 a month. I'm playing the new expansion right now. Blizzard got a DDOS attack and server issues from the millions logging in at launch and gave everyone free 5 days of play, and then a free week about 2 weeks before that. They also have sales on their stuff a lot. I got the expansion, and the entire game for 63 dollars, which includes a max level boost to prepare a character for the expansion. I dont use the one I boosted often, I use the one I trained. I play it during this expansion. Plus the role system makes it so much more balanced, and even more fun if you really appreciate your team. Dungeons can take anywhere from 5 minutes- 1 hour. Raids can take just as long or even longer depending on what it is. You alway have the option to do normal mode, and gear up. Then afterwards go do Heroic (In MS case that would be Chaos). They provide these options for dungeons and raids alike. It's a very well run system, and exploits are snapped in the back with 0 trace. I just wish Nexon put more into the NA server right after Big Bang. If they did, I could be playing both games right now, and maybe paying monthly for MS too.

I don't know. If Nexon actually balanced the class roles (ie warriors hit harder but much slower *ahem* kaiser, luk and/or dex helped increase an avoid stat that did something, actual support and healing classes needed b/c all self revive skills would be taken away except for paladin, zero, bishop, adn stuff like that) I feel like everyone would still bandwagon one or two classes for damage or whatever and we would be in the same place we are now. Its the community that sucks balls, not the game. The community is the part who got focused solely on damage and solo play.
I think it's too late for MS1 to have that kind of system. They should just work on what we have now, and possibly ... you know ... add some new lv200+ content.
I agree, one thing I love about playing WoW is the fact so much content is for level 100+ (before 90). And when we get expansions we get new continents or worlds. I know its not the best example since that is pay to play monthly, but the thing is, Nexon could still provide content. Now we have a ton of useless content that does nothing for anyone. Plus most of it is always ignored.
