Meeting people irl

I've met 2 of my closest friends on Maple in real life already. One turned out to be 28, and one turned out to be 22 (I'm 19). We're still really good friends though. I got close to a lot of my old highschool friends through Maple as well. That got me thinking, how is everyone not meeting people and socializing this much on Maple? I mean... I feel bad for you if you're not because you're missing out on a lot of friendship and memories.

All of my good friends on maple are either in Ontario or Cali, which are both far from where I live in western Canada

Sup Pops.
I've met my best of my friends on maple. Still plan on meeting him one day. He's turning 20 this winter and I'm 21. I believe we've known each other for 5 years now.

I get that MMORPGs can be doubled as socializing tools, but in the case of MS the community is filled with either power-hungry jerks, scammers/traitors, or early-teenagers that can't control their sexual hormones.
Despite that being said, there are exceptions (albeit rare) that I found. Just two people from this game come to mind who I actually want to meet up irl.

If you like using MS to socialize and it works, great, I couldn't care less. But nothing beats real life communications.

I have one or two buddies I would ever consider meeting irl. Really only one because we've been friends for about 5 years now and I know she's not a dikweed like some people I know.

Some of us just play the game as an addictive hobby and have our own lives outside of the game.
What's creepy about it? I mean... obviously I text and skype with these people before I meet them to make sure they aren't insane or some creepy old guy, but if one of my close friends online lives 2 blocks away from me, why would I not pursue that friendship even further?
Understandable, I'm more talking about people going extremely out of the way to meet people.

Don't be creeped out, the world is changing. Soon this will be considered perfectly normal.

I actually have not met anyone from Maple in real life. I did foster one friendship that started on Maple, though, and now we talk on Facebook.

Not Maple, but I did meet one of my best friends through another game. We have not yet met in person, but plan to make it happen some day.

People think it's "just a game" so it's a shame to see them making fun of people.

It's not just a game if you make life long friends, get into relationships, I know some people who even got married in real life.
And because, "basketball is just a game" too.

I have friends I want to meet someday too, close friends that I've met on maple. A lot of them quit years ago when I quit back then too but I still have their phone numbers and facebook information. In fact, we used to talk on the phone everyday. Those were good times for me.
