Fire Emblem Revelations worth?

Is it worth downloading? Does it explain Azure's background? Can I mix and match characters from conquest and birthright?!

Revelations is my first Fire Emblem game. Couldn't stand having the characters be manipulated so badly on Birthright and Conquest.

to be honest i find revalations the best because theres no moment in revalations where i just want to facepalm ( IM LOOKING AT YOU AZURA CONQUEST AND A CERTAIN PERSONS DeATH IN BIRTHRiGHT ). plus i highly recommened not marrying azura in this playthrough. just saying. the guy above is right this route gives way to many characters and you can have only like what 12 in your pt? they dont really explain a certain antagonist role that well you'll have to look up there lore if you want to understand more. or buy dlc(hidden truths as @above said). your choice. and yeah they explain nearly everything about azura and both conquests and birthrights endings. Its really a nice finish to the game

If you enjoy Fates then yes. You can mix and match the characters, it does explain, more or less, who Azura is (though the Hidden Truths DLC is kind of the final piece of the puzzle in terms of the story), and it's the only way to get certain skills on some characters without an insane amount of Corrin marriage. Also it gets you the extra path bonuses, which can be super helpful.
Rev's story is awful, but considering it's Fates that's to be expected.
It does have the issue of giving you too many characters though, so it's pretty difficult to convince yourself to use Azama for instance, when you have Sakura, Elise, Jakob, and Felicia hanging around already.
Overall though I think it's a good idea.
