So, how's rebbot?

So for those of you who were able to play for about 10 minutes(I don't actually know, haven't even downloaded the patch yet) How is it?

I only now have all kinds of nostalgia welling up inside me. If it's anything like old Maple, I may even play there for good even though I've spent some good cash on this current character.

Some things I really miss...

Being forced to travel by boat seems annoying and stupid when you think about it now, but when the player base was much more widespread, there was joy to be had. I remember every boat I took to go to a new continent or city and there were just 100's of people crowding the area. All the more exciting when there's a strong monster possibly appearing and betting each other to check or tricking people saying that no Rog's are coming or even dying at the same exact time you enter the portal so you die inside the boat, haha. Anyone who already had a hyper teleport rock at the early stages of the game were sadly missing out in my opinion.

The teamwork when it comes to fighting bosses or LHC mobs(I like to call the LHC/CWKPQ era the 3rd generation). Not being able to kill a zak arm in literally less than a second where the animation of the arm being destroyed takes longer than it existing gives a sense of true bossing stature. When I came back to find that Czak can be completed in minutes with no funding I was kind of flabbergasted. Normal Zak back then(at least when I started doing it), took at least 20-30 minutes(I know when zak first released it took hours just to rid one hand followed by a smega announcing said hand being rid of). In the end, longer boss fights, worthwhile equipment, sense of accomplishment, sense of teamwork, ???, Profit!

Quests.

There was only a few years where optional quests were ever useful. That was way back then. Now, the only quests people really do is boss prequest to fight bosses. Quests these days are pointless, a waste of time, and it could be deleted in the next patch and no one would probably ever notice. In fact, you can just delete every NPC in the game and people probably wouldn't notice until a couple days and when they do notice no one would even f---in care.

If quests become useful again.. it can be another route of EXP gain. I remember training at ant tunnel fighting monsters at my level range while at the same time doing the "hunt 99 of these" to the "hunt 999 of these" sign quests in tandem. It gave me a goal to complete it really and let me finish with a little more exp then I would've gotten. This goes the same for getting useful equips from doing quests. Not only does it help you train but it also gives you reason to explore the world. I personally enjoyed quests that made me travel the world because while I was doing it I would run into other people doing it or have a fun chat on the boat rides. Win win. Everyone remembers the sauna robe, snow shoes, work glove, bamboo hat, pac look. Whenever I ran into someone wearing the same stuff, you already knew, haha.

Exploration, Multiple training spots of the same level ranges, and monster drops

Probably one of the best parts of old maple is exploring the area. The Ant Tunnel is actually one of the biggest dungeons in the game for how old it is. It had branching paths, multiple hidden areas like zombie mushmom, stronger monsters the farther you delve down into the abyss, and quite ominous areas when you make it to the end. Who would have thought that all the way inside that cave there would be a perfectly designed and functional door just waiting for you to enter into it. And that's not all, it had multiple bosses to fight, too! Unfortunately training in there isn't all that much logical. There are better spots, but hey, increasing spawn or exp isn't too hard. Not only that, but I do miss fighting monsters for specific items. In old maple, once you get past level 40 I think...? You're almost forced to find all the higher level weapons, which is 50+ to like 80, by monster drops. As a Spearmen, I wanted to get rid of my level 40 Zeco so bad looking for a Serpents Tongue from Drakes or whatever dropped them back then. Again, at the end of the day it all led to a sense of accomplishment when you find that weapon that barely even increase your range by like 100 more damage. Just having it was what I really worried about and looking cool in henesys.

So far, I'm quite interested to see how old school kind of maple will look with new school mechanics. As in, all this movement speed with old maple pasted over it. Hope it lives up to my expectations, hah.

@mrsying: I see the logic towards that statement. If the community destroys itself then I'll be going back as well. However, from the amount of people already on Reboot, it seems a hefty amount may even stay. Besides, the godly to not godly ratio is like 1:50 anyway.

This will just be a flavor of the month in my opinion, everyone will come crawling back to the main servers eventually. Just my opinion.

My friends and I are 100% prepared to ditch our old servers and come together in reboot.

It's pretty fun atm. It's been awhile since you see multiple people that are DIFFERENT classes in the same training maps. This usually only happens when a new class is released lol. Once we some uber high level people the non stop grinding should stop : D

@voidwreck: If that cap is only 10m I don't believe it would be to repetitive to start over to get there again. That's just me of course.

@imaclubyou: Yup, true. I'm predicting that the population of Reboot will die down in the next few months. Some people, such as myself, would probably just move back to their main worlds. I'm too lazy to re-create all my link skills and character cards over again.

@voidwreck: Well, I guess I wasn't not expecting this either. People get hyped when new servers come out and wanna be the highest level in the newest world. It's something to see coming, but it should die down after someone is just so ridiculously high in such little time most would give up.

@nhan1st: That's actually pretty great news if it's actually like HHG1 in a sense that people go there to f--- around. I like that.

It's pretty enjoyable. Fire golems are the new HHG1.

Most people are willing to party up while training, but there still isn't any social interaction. People are too busy grinding away. Sometimes I would start the convo but nobody would respond. The social aspect of this game is still missing, in my opinion. There are like 9 people in every training map and nobody talks. Other than that, Reboot is alright but I think I will stick to Windia.
