Do you like the reboot server?

What is your opinion on it? Feel free to cover it in a general sense, or go all in.

I was very against it, still am; but I guess I am enjoying my time I have spent playing it these last 2 weeks.
It is definitely a good distraction while I wait for cool updates to happen to the servers.
Kind of lets me put my real maple stuff in a deep freeze while I mess around haha!

Farewell

It's what brought me back. I wish there was more of an economy, but it's nice that it's essentially up to yourself to get funded and gear up, which is part of the fun anyway. I'm glad it's all meso based minus cosmetics!

At this point normal servers are for "premium" players, those who are already fundend, those who can't let go of their fancy pixels and successful merchants. If you don't fall under any of those categories and don't have a group of active friends keeping you going then there really is no reason not to play Reboot.

i quit main server cus capping is boring idk , too easy

I started up a priest in reboot for some nostalgic feels, and I'm absolutely in love with not being funded and not being able to trade.
Any other time I've started a character recently it's like bloody clockwork, going from area to area because they're the most popular training zones and being funded doesn't restrict you much.
With my priest for the first time in AGES I'm having to hunt for holy weak monsters to make training alone efficient, and when that's not working out people actually want to party together to grind.
TLDR: it's dope, yo.

I enjoy it because I never really got to experience the "end game" in other servers. In Reboot, I can see how much progress I'm making and it's more social imo because everyone just sits in henesys afk. At least I have some people to talk to in Reboot.

Non-Reboot servers got too easy and messy for me. It's like watching a drama series that you enjoy, but then producers started adding a bunch of characters and boatloads of plot filler that made it not enjoyable anymore. When a couple dollars can buy you a good start on the path to capping within a few weeks' worth of work, just doesn't feel worth playing. Also sucked that players who couldn't afford to be as strong seemed to be left behind in the dust and often ignored.

Reboot has it right for me. No profession limits on crafting for any job, no bonus pots, no FM alternative to getting gear, etc. It's simpler, but it feels much more rewarding. Weaker players are often assisted by stronger ones because there is no benefit to hogging all the boss drops or getting dupes you won't use.

Love it. Always people on, the community is great, tons of different guilds to choose from wit hardly any beef. The no trading part I don't even think twice about anymore, guild members boss for fun and take along friends and guildies to get their gear. The world isn't filled with greed, cubes are 12m and 22m which is insanely cheap compared to other servers. Depending on the class you can make over 150-200m an hour farming.

Break my heart gusto boy.

Seems like basilers don't like reboot that much. Playing with guildies I never thought the game was solo at all. Even completely opposite. Before in Scania I just sat in fm and merched all day myself.

Now even when I'm meso farming which most consider to be the epitome of solo play I have friends splitting map, others in voice chat and a whole alliance always talking. I practised cra bosses even though we couldn't manage to kill it, big alliance runs of ice cream, cpq, bossing etc. No trade get's people motivated to actually complete all the content and rely on others for help. Idk could be just me but I've never felt reboot was a solo server at all.

Maybe y'all just need to come join our guild

@carbyken: The 3DS game is called MapleStory: Girl of Destiny. My friend bought it for me in Japan

OT: I don't like the Reboot server at all, huge disappointment. It was fun for a while as a change of pace, but what I really wanted was a true old school experience, like it was advertised to be, and this is far away from being that unfortunately.

It's fun to play on the side i guess. I don't really enjoy it though. I started reboot with a few friends so it's not as bad since i have people to play with right off the bat and we all work towards common goals.

Nope, no trading and it's a grindfest. Though I do see the appeal of it especially if you're just starting the game.

@cautiouskine: Perfect, thank you. That sounds amazing!

Going to boot up JMS and see if they've got it there, since I am unable to connect to GMS anymore.

At first I was against it, I tried it for an hour and found that it was too much work but after quitting my original server and putting all my effort into Reboot I actually quite enjoy the fact that I have to work hard on my characters, whereas in the other servers I would take the easy way out and buy my equips.

@rilakina: I'll just copy and paste something I wrote on a previous thread about reboot and if you have any more questions regarding it, feel free to ask.

Basically it's the same as the other servers in terms of patches and updates.

The differences are:
- Only way to get mesos is to kill monsters or sell drops to NPC.
- Trading/dropping/selling are not available. (No FM)
- Training/grinding personally I find is a lot easier and quicker. This may be due to getting more exp per kill but keep in mind that monsters can be harder to kill too.
- The only way to obtain your higher level gear is by finding it through monster drops (bosses etc.)
- Cubes and Hyper Tele Rocks are obtainable in the Cash Shop using mesos
- Slot expansion coupons, master craftsman cubes, bullets/stars are available in pot shops in towns for mesos
- The only reason you might need NX is for a pet (otherwise I believe normal/hard hilla drops blackheart) OR if you wanted to buy permanent NX equips

Nah, I don't like it since some features could be implemented in the regular servers

Since I just came back to Maple, anyone mind summing up what the Reboot server is, since I am far too lazy to do that research myself?

I liked the idea of it, though I think it is too individual-focused. Barely anyone does anything together anymore.

I wasn't with it at first, but I've fully switched over to it and I gotta say it's a lot better.

Didn't like it, I don't have the time to farm, I'd rather work, spend a little money and get what I want. Also, I hate training, so my current setup is best for me where all I do is log on and boss.

Didn't really get much interest as I played. The idea behind it almost feels like trying to make a console RPG. However there's just one very obvious problem though... There are a slew of RPGs that can be played on other systems, even on the computer! If I wanted to play Reboot I may as well play Maplestory DS or that 3DS title which the name escapes me at the moment.

It really doesn't work as it was entirely promised personally. I'll give them credit for trying, but eh.

Don't like it just because it doesn't allow trading with other players. Trading with other players is a must for a MMORPG in my opinion.

Reboot gave the final blow to the rest of the servers ending in MapleStory's demise.
