[header=1]What is Potential[/header]
Now this is probably the most time consuming, most costly and most annoying part of Maple but also the most important upgrades to your equipment.
Because a Potential can boost your damage and range drastically since ALMOST EVERY GOD DAMN EQUIPMENT IN EXISTENCE CAN GET THEM (except for a few such as Medal, low level ring, low level badge, pocket item, etc).

Now you've probably picked up all the equipment you can find on the ground and sell them to NPC for some mesos.
Now you've probably noticed that some of those equipment comes with a Hidden Potential, but have no idea what are they.

I'm here to enlighten you.

You probably noticed how there's a magnify glass-like icon at the bottom of your inventory interface.
If you haven't noticed, go take a look at it now.

If you click that icon, I believe you will be automatically redirected to your equip inventory, and your mouse or pointer will look like a magnify glass in your inventory.
Drag them on top of one of the equip with Hidden Potential to reveal their potential.

I believe it cost some mesos to reveal the potential, not sure if they changed how lower level equip works but if you level up your Traits, which I might cover in a later topic, you can reveal equipment up to level 100 or 120 for free.

After revealing it, it will give you random stats and line on your equipment.
Sometimes you'd see there is 2 new line at the bottom of your equipment with random stats and sometimes it has 3 line.
2 is the minimum and 3 is the maximum you can get.

If you get 2 lines, too bad for you. You will need a Potential Stamp item which drop from Bosses or from the Cash Shop to increase the potential line.

But I wouldn't worry too much about potential yet until I get to around level 150+ where I can finally focus on end game equipment.

[header=2]Different Tier and Rank[/header]

The most common potential everyone aim for is the %main stat or %all stat since every piece of equipment can get them, which increases your base stat plus your equipment's stat by a certain percentage.

The potential comes in 4 tier and 4 different rank.

Tier 1 is from level 1 - 30
Tier 2 is from level 31 - 70
Tier 3 is from level 71 - 150
Tier 4 is from level 151+

The rank goes from [b]Rare[/b] to [b]Epic[/b] to [b]Unique[/b] to [b]Legendary[/b]

The higher the tier and the higher the rank, you can get better potential.

For example,
Rare Tier 1 equipment - 1% main or 0% all stat.
Legendary Tier 1 equipment - 6% main or 4% all stat.
Rare Tier 2 equipment - 2% main or 1% all stat.
Legendary Tier 2 equipment - 9% main or 6% all stat.
Rare Tier 3 equipment - 3% main or 2% all stat.
Legendary Tier 3 equipment - 12% main or 9% all stat.
Rare Tier 4 equipment - 4% main or 3% all stat.
Legendary Tier 4 equipment - 13% main or 10% all stat.

[header=3]How to Upgrade Potential Rank[/header]

There are various ways you can go about it...

[b]Method 1[/b]: Hardcore cubing.

You can probably see Red Cube or Black Cube in the Cash Shop, you can use those cube to change your potential if you did not get the potential you want upon revealing, which you probably won't unless you get lucky.

Black Cubes allow you to choose between your old stat or the new stat so it is only recommended if you have a good potential on your equipment already.

After using dozens of the cube, your equipment may be able to rank up, but don't worry though, they will never rank down unless you use an Occult Cube which is rarely found.

[b]Method 1.2[/b]: More Hardcore labor:

Don't have any NX to buy the cubes in Cash Shop? Don't worry! You can just keep farming Elite Monster, Bosses or just craft them using the profession system.
You can even get them from Mining those Legendary Veins or Herbs you see around occasionally.
Requires a lot of effort and time, but if you really insist on not spending, those are your only gateway to cubing.

[b]Method 2[/b]: Epic or Unique Potential Scroll.

If your equipment don't have a potential or if your equipment have a lower rank potential, you can use Epic or Unique Potential Scroll on your equipment and your equipment will have a Hidden Potential which is Epic or Unique on reveal. What you get is random though.

You can find Epic Potential Scroll from farming Elite Monster, which I have covered in Volume 3.
As for Unique Potential Scroll, they are occasionally given out during event. So look out for them.

[header=4]How to get Potential[/header]

Your equipment don't have Hidden Potential? You don't want to get a new one? No worries, you can still get potential on those babies.

All you need is a Potential Scroll (with 70% success and 100% chance to destroy on failure), Advanced Potential Scroll (with 90% success and 100% chance to destroy on failure) and Special Potential Scroll (with 100% success rate, only available in Cash Shop or Event).

You can also use Epic or Unique Potential Scroll to get Hidden Ability which is Epic or Unique on reveal on equipment without a Hidden Ability.

[header=5]Decent Skill[/header]

Now this is something interesting, on a certain piece of equipment, you can get a certain Adventurer's buff skill which is "decent" at best.

For example,

A Unique Level 30+ Shoe can get Decent Haste.
A Unique Level 30+ Pants can get Decent Hyper Body.
A Unique Level 70+ Helmet can get Decent Mystic Door.
A Unique Level 120+ Gloves can get Decent Sharp Eye.
A Legendary Level 70+ Shoes can get Decent Combat Order.
A Legendary Level 120+ Helmet can get Decent Advanced Blessing.
A Legendary Level 120+ Gloves can get Decent Speed Infusion.

Note that these Decent skills are not meant to replace the actual buffs the Adventurer have to offer, they do not give you the highest possible bonus each actual skill can give you. They are only optional if you do not hang out with a party.

[header=6]What kind of Potential we can get[/header]
Now this is a tricky question, in fact, there are too much I don't even know everything.

But I'll just advice you on this, just focus on getting %main or all stat and you won't go wrong.

There's a few important things to take note of though.

On a weapon, secondary weapon and emblem, you can get a few very useful potential you cannot find on the rest so try to aim for these on those 3:
- Ignore Monster Defense %
- Total Damage %
- Attack %
- Boss Damage %
- Critical Rate %

And something else important to take note of, on a Legendary rank tier 3 and higher gloves, you can get Minimum and Maximum Critical Damage Potential.

[header=7]Bonus Potential[/header]

Bonus Potential are additional 3 line of potential exempted from normal potential, they work in almost the same way and the bonus they give is not as high as the normal potential except for some potential on the weapon.

And the only way to upgrade them at the moment is to use a Special Cubes which occasionally come out in the Cash Shop.

This is PRO stuff and you don't need to worry about them in the longest time to come. Don't worry about cubing for Bonus Potential until you have finished upgrade all your equipment and their normal potential.

I might update this part again if I get pro enough to start upgrading bonus potential

[header=8]Nebulite[/header]

Nebulite is a lot like Potential and they are Global Maple Story Exclusive!

You can buy a socket item from most of the NPC General Store and use them on any of your equipment, if not, most of your equipment.

After your equipment have a socket infused in them, you can embed a Nebulite to them which gives you awesome bonus, including Unique Rank Decent Skill and up to 4% All Stat.

You can find more about all kinds of Nebulite here:
http://www.basilmarket.com/MapleStory-Nebulite.html

[header=9]How to find Nebulite[/header]

Well, most of the monster in-game have a very low chance to drop a Nebulite Box (which is time limited I might add) and if you open them, you can most likely get a Rank [D] Nebulite.

To get it to higher rank, you can use the Nebulite Fusion skill which is most likely in your beginner skill interface.

You can fuse 2 nebulite and they will become 1 with a low chance to rank up, I might add, they have a chance to drop their rank too. What kind of nebulite you get from fusing is random.

Once your Nebulite is Rank B, you require a coupon to fuse them, which require NX so don't worry about fusing them beyond Rank B unless you have money to spare.

Again, this is also kind of a PRO stuff, don't worry about them
