That shouldn't be surprising at all. *chuckles* My first desktop PC was from around the same period as your old laptop and after going through 2 or 3 other PCs over the years it's still the only one that remains fully functional (well, it can't go online anymore, but besides that it's still fully functional).
@baroo: I was expecting the hard drive to fail given its bad sectors and was in the process of making backups* when the _power jack_ of all things broke off inside the laptop. A friend and I managed to re-attach it, but found a fault in the wire, so the laptop can't connect to the mains any more. The battery has five minutes of power left. Actually I was pretty lucky because I had just bought a new laptop when the old one broke. It's fixable, but I'll need a new power jack assembly.
Of course my REALLY old laptop from 1995 works like a dream.
* My external hard drive has such a high Current Pending Sector Count that Vista wouldn't make a standard bulk dump into it.
@pavchka: That's some rotten luck, there. Considering how many times I've suffered hard drive crashes over the years with this game, I'm lucky I still have so many saved avatars to choose from.
There are a few possible causes. Basil's engine switch may be responsible (though my avatar worked until a few days ago, while the switch took place in October), or Nexon deciding to display avatars in PNG format, while Basil only accepted GIF at the time. Or B dug around in the codes and accidentally broke something.
I have an edited version of my avatar on my old laptop (with a pink Zakum Helmet and Cursayer) which I strongly prefer over my current looks. [barf emote] Unfortunately the computer broke some time ago.
@baroo: Yeah, you were one of the few others that I saw that had their picture deleted. No idea why it happened, but I had to update to not be a grey blob.
Why am I not surprised that I was among the few to be afflicted with this strange and uncommon issue? =/ Oh, well... I have a wealth of saved avatar pics of Keeth I could use (well over 30), but I doubt I'll be rushing to replace it anytime soon.
@thiefy996: I didn't have a choice. It was either the little "this image cannot be displayed" icon, or the "toilet brush with goggles on" look.

My characters got deleted from my account. Had to re add them. Waiting for the picture submission to be approved
