Anvils being one time only?

A lot of collectors and whatnot complain about anvils screwing things up for them some times. This game is also big on passing around the same equips and things spreading like wildfires. But I thought, if they could keep things to be rare and still have that feeling of unique (like being one of the few with a Ryude's sword) what if Anvils were a one time thing per item? Anvil'd items cannot be Anvil'd either. Or if they put a limit like one anvil a month per item or something?

This was just an idea for collectors and people who enjoy having/wearing rare stuff since once a rare item is released into the FM it gets anviled to all kinds of stuff and is no longer rare anymore.
Collectors just need to stop crying, as long as they have the REAL item, who cares if a copy is being used on a player? Not like it will be sold for anywhere near the same price. If they are worried about others profiting from the anvil, maybe they need to reassess the situation they're in, they could sell anvil service to further fund their ORIGINAL collections. Just my 0.02!
The point of a rare item is to have a cool unique looking item that nobody else has. Being able to make infinite amounts of fake copies defeated the purpose for the most part. Mass anviling an item deflates the price of the real item as well. It would be like someone having an extremely rare coin and then someone mass produced duplicate versions of the coin that look exactly alike by the human eye.

Anviling should have been a one time thing to persist an items appearance being connected to its stats and rarity...

one thing about mmorpgs is that appearance is very important. for anyone to have a certain item regardless of stats( anviled items) makes anyone able to flaunt any item.

this means there is not much individuality. no need to quest for a certain item because every item (appearance) is obtainable.

why seek/buy an expensive/cool item when you can get an item that is almost completely identical for a much cheaper price?

before, an items appearance signified its own worth and rarity. "Dude that guy/girl has -awesome item-", but the implimentation of anvils along with its consecutive appearance transfer makes item popularity extremely short, considering rapid spread of an items appearance and quick boredom of the appearance if within a week everyone can wear it. No one would be unique. No item is unique.
Every items stats and appearance are so easily seperated, people can't tell which is an anviled item and which is the real item they worked hard to obtain.

Maybe NEXON GLOBAL knows this. extremely easy and affordable ways to get the appearance you want makes a short cash flow phase with certain updates introducing new items that are appealing. make people get bored fast so that you can reintroduce a new item for a burst of money. This won't hurt long term player loyalty, right? This won't affect rares? This won't affect correlation between item appearance and effort, right?

anyways, blah blah blah, if mapelstory can aquire enough new players to replenish its lost playerbase, its business practices would be a good moneymaker disregarding customer satisfaction, but they aren't doing anything effective to get more players. They sure aren't doing anything to keep them.

of course, anyone that doesn't like change, impedes on their "freedom" to have anvil appearance consecutiveness, wouldn't like your idea.

P.S. this affects an mmorpg( that relies on appearance) very intensely.
No. I don't think collectors view anviled items as collectables anyways (or as much as the real thing). An anviled item will never be viewed as the real thing.
You're right though, this would prevent special items to be as common.
You would be surprised. There's a lot of people who collect anviled items or get anviled items to pretend like they have the real thing. There's a lot of fake collectors out there and I don't know many who stay true to its roots. I have always wanted the idea of having an anvil limit on items and being unable to anvil an anviled item.

@Erag0n1 Dat Rare Alien Frag helm of yours though.

I classify anvil collectors in a different category. They aren't viewed as real collectors by most people though.
Collecting real equips is a far greater achievement though

@Caeg: The way I view anvils is, it keeps the original item alive.
