I cant stand obese people defending their obesity

I'm sick of people making excuses on why they don't/can't lose weight, it's pretty pathetic. Unless you have a medical condition that's stopping you from exercising (which is a very small percentage) then that's pretty sad. "Why do you care?" before you ask me that, I care because I don't want to see an obese person every where I go, plain and simple as that. I don't care if I sound mean. I saw a post on FB the other day that said "there are more overweight people than underweight people in the planet" that's pathetic. There's no obese person that is happy with their body. Just get off your lazy ass and eat healthy or exercise. It's not expensive to eat healthy and exercising is free.

@meiguihua: Sweating has nothing to do with losing weight. It is a mechanism for one's body to cool itself. Calories out > calories in, and she will lose weight. All she needs to do is maintain a slight deficit, either by a diet ( diet is a bad idea, she should change her overall eating habits in her lifestyle) and/or exercise. If she truly cannot sweat then going intense may be a bad idea and she should consult a doctor before beginning a program. However, she can take a brisk walk, get her blood flowing and burn calories in a more docile approach.

@sezbeth: just like I give my negative opinions about other people, I can take negative opinions about myself from others. If I can't stand an obese person, they're not going to change because of me. Just like I won't change because of someone else's opinions. I made this thread to state my opinions and not to make a change in people's lives. I don't say this in real life because I'm not tryna look like a dbag in this very sensitive world.

Also, the hat isn't mine, I don't wear mainstream clothes

@kevqn: -and is somehow seeing it causing some kind of significant psychological harm, or are you simply upset that others aren't (and likely don't care to) conduct themselves according to your opinions?

This really is beginning to sound a lot like how campus-based third-wave feminism conducts itself when it comes to people expressing opinions dissenting from their own.

Why not apply the same logic to a different situation? Say I take this picture of you from that old IRL picture thread: http://imgur.com/T7XYZW5

"There are millions of people with that lame OBEY merch. If they look in the mirror and see that they're being a bunch of stupid edgelord hipsters, that's not my problem, but it becomes my problem if I see it."

@kevqn: Quick question, and this has nothing to do with any stance on obesity, but why would you incessantly complain about people making bad decisions and health choices but then subsequently do nothing to try and fix it?

While I'm all for people being aware that weight issues are generally unhealthy, I have difficulty seeing the justification of raving on about something simply because you don't like it (honestly, don't the SJWs do the same thing?).

Granted, you could make the taxes argument based on a few examples, but from what I recall of your age, do you actually pay taxes?

Reply May 5, 2016

@lovetdot: I'm allowed to be an asshole when it's my taxes paying for their poor health choices. When they're wasting my office hours because of their poor health choices and ignoring what I tell them.

@steph: I've been underweight for a large part of my life, and gaining weight as an underweight person is as hard (or harder) as an overweight person trying to lose weight. It takes A LOT of effort, but you need to decide what's more important: Being healthy or continuing the unhealthy lifestyle

@lovetdot: How am I an asshole? I don't like being around/seeing people that make bad life choices and do nothing to fix it

@steph: it's difficult because people don't see it as the horrible thing it is. Being obese is awful for people. It's stupidly unhealthy, but people these days are too into "fat-acceptance" to do anything about it. No, it's NOT ok to be fat. It's actually the opposite of healthy, dangerous, and costs taxpayers a LOT of money.

@steph: Eating healthy and exercising both boil down to how much you care about your body. It's not really about being fat or skinny, it's about your health. Being overweight or obese puts you at risk for all kinds of problems, and as a human being you SHOULD care about your body's condition. You only get one shot at this life with this body, and the world doesn't have an endless supply of extra organs lying around to give to you when the one you were born with craps out on you because you ate so much garbage that your arteries got clogged up.

It isn't hard to eat better and exercise. It's a choice. The concept is simple, but people who call it difficult or make excuses are just lazy. They'd rather go to McDonald's and eat mystery meat every day instead of taking the time to make themselves grilled chicken and steamed veggies. They can't be bothered to look up healthy (and really delicious recipes) to cook at home because cooking takes forever and they'd rather be playing video games instead of educating themselves on what it is they're shoveling down their throats. I won't even touch on the fact that staying up at night and getting no sleep messes with your body's cortisol. -_-

And you know what? If a person CHOOSES not to eat healthy or exercise and they're overweight as a result of that, I don't think they have the right to complain about the way their body looks or to feel upset when people criticize them for not making better lifestyle choices.

@greatbolshy: You can buy a lot of healthy foods for cheap, and you can buy a lot of unhealthy foods for cheap. The only difference is, there are a lot of options with junk food and with healthy food there isn't much healthy cheap varieties.

@curesword: the real issue is food prices. fat people are usually lower/lower middle class people. it's a lot cheaper to go load up on snacks than it is to buy a bunch of chicken breast and vegetables. not much that can be done about that because then you get people crying for animal rights so food becomes more expensive

The issue when it comes to overweight/obese people is that society doesn't do anything as much to make them a healthy weight like telling them health concerns will be considered "fat shaming". I find it very ironic people get away when they shame underweight/normal weight people.

The only fat people I hate are the ones who complain about being fat. If you don't like being overweight, get off your ass and do something about it. If you are fine being round, all the power to you.

Also 150 is not scrawny depending on his height. I am 5'9 145lbs and fall into the average weight range for that height (135-155lbs). If you think that is scrawny, it is just because you are obese.

The issue is if I tell a patient to stop smoking, and that they're killing themselves. I get praised. If I tell a patient that they're fat and that they need to stop eating so much, I get called out for "fat-shaming". In reality, obesity causes many more problems than smoking lol.

It's a bit difficult for a lot of people to lose weight because of addiction and stuff, wouldn't say it's at all impossible though.(for those without rare genetic issues)

I do somewhat agree with you, I dislike the people who defend their weight as if they cannot fix it, I became a little overweight,(by around 30 pounds)and lost 30-35 pounds by eating chocolate, pizza, fast food, and other stuff deemed to be the root cause of it all, I just didn't eat as much of the foods as a bear would before hibernation, and I didn't exercise at all either.

I want to walk up to fat people and go 'HEY! Stop eating so much, are you trying to kill yourself? Stop being so fat, lose some weight, you look disgusting, you slob.'

Unfourtantently its not acceptable in today's society to harass fat people. However, it's perfectly okay to harass smokers, and doing other sorts of drugs publicly. Every time I see a fat person eating food, I remind myself its because of them (mostly) that our public health care system is so strained... seriously, get rid of the fat people, and suddenly you free up billions of dollars. Fat people are literally causing our healthcare system too much time and money. Stupid fatties.

@sparkshooter: most people actually agree.

After work my sister takes my cousin to MCD & eats food. They are fat & wonder why I don't fk with them. It's obvious why I don't you are fat & eat mcd every day at 3 am, while I get home & workout. Seriously at work I always be arguing with everyone bout chicks who are 160+. "They're not fat" the fk they're not? No female should weight over 150 lbs unless they are like 6foot tall. This "thick" trend is so gross.

It's different if they were like DJ khaled. Who knows he's fat & is trying to not be a lazy gluttous sack of fat. Most men shouldn't even weight over 260. There is no reasons why you should weight more than 260 unless you are extremely jacked or 7feet tall.

I can't even see myself being 190. A friend of mine is 6'3 & he only weights 215. He isnt as fit as me either. I weight 180ish been fluxuating between 175-180 for the pass year. Train almost everyday. If not I do yoga or hit the sand bag.

This is while I get 4 to 5 hours of sleep. So screw you lazy people talking about your tired or some other bs.

I thought I was living healthy until I developed what's almost a beer belly in such a short time that I can remember is that one summer I went to the pool and the next I didn't.
At the same time, my brother led the same exact lifestyle and ate the same food as me, but he was still skinny with a somewhat visible sixpack.
I THINK this was around the beginning of high school but I'm really not sure.

You must really be disappointed by how many people disagree with you, seeing how you continuously make these threads.
In any case, whether or not it's healthy or not, just let people live their lives. No matter what you do, your not going to be able to influence their lifestyles, just like how we aren't able to stop you from making these kinds of threads.

(TL;DR at bottom)

i will probably never understand until i hit menopause.
(basic high metabolism asian girl)

but i eat more than obese ppl do qq
and i don't exercise except for the 1 hour walk to and back from school
i also walk from my room to my fridge occasionally
been the same weight for years.

though tbh, how i see it is that if i was obese, then i could claim that i am handicapped and abuse that right.

also with the huge amount of people saying
"every body type is beautiful"
"everyone is perfect regardless of their size"
"weight doesnt define a person"
"stop fat-shaming"
"curvy girls are better than skinny girls lmao"

i would find it unnecessary to lose weight because there are people who think obesity is "healthy"
or "normal" just like other people.

if it was ABSOLUTELY and socially impossible to fit in as an obese person, there might be some changes.

**When I say obese, by the way, I mean like obese obese.
Not "chubby"- 150~300lbs (although 300 is borderline obese depending on your height and muscle ratio)
I mean like the 300+ lbs range. That's when obesity starts to be life-threatening.
It's always good to start cutting weight while you're not obese to prevent it from happening though.

Once you're obese, losing weight is much harder than back when you were sort-of kinda in shape.
So yeah, I agree with you on that bit if your definition of obese matches mine.

But if you meant obese as in people who have... I don't know, chubby thighs or a bit of belly or underarm fat, then please lower your standards on how the average person should look.
People who think that everyone should look like a supermodel make my big-boned friends insecure when they're out and about, despite not being obese.

TL;DR :
obese people receive special treatment, not just for being different somewhat, but because society always tries to fix things the easy way - by making everything socially acceptable so that there won't be any quarrels.

they will never view their conditions as unacceptable unless that special place for them disappears.
with the exception of the people who wish to change their state but can't because of a disease or legitimate physical disability.
people aren't born 500 pounds. but hey, who knew that?
