No one under 30 years old should get food stamps

So for those of you who don't know, food stamps is free money from the government that can only be used to buy food. This is my opinion and

THIS EXCLUDES:
People with disabilities
People with children (You shouldn't have children if you can't afford them, but it's not fair to the kid so it's acceptable)
Veterans

There is no excuse for a person under 30 years old to ever be on food stamps, because they are lazy. If you have no job experience, you can still easily get 2 part time jobs and survive off that, but people are lazy and want free handouts. Nothing is stopping a person from applying to 50 places in a day until they get 2 jobs. It's not fair for someone like me to work hard everyday and someone else my age who is getting free food doesn't have to work as hard. I know the cost of living is a lot, but it is definitely possible to live. You can get a lot of careers without going to college.
Please try to give me an example of why someone can't do it, and I'll tell you why you're wrong. I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if you can give a good example

@koreantiger: Who said it's a big deal? I don't want praise for working at UPS, but people shouldn't call it a crap job when I'll be making as much money as a nurse who spends more than 4 years at college, spending hours and hours and hours a week study and going to school, and then working 12 hour shifts multiple times a week

@kevqn Working at the ups isn't even a big deal. Any dumb person can do what you do. No one told you to not go to college and get a crap job.

@xylyls: Lmao, she called me dumb so I called her retarded. Also, my job will pay enough to support a family, so my job pay nicely. Also, I did vote today.

@andreaverilia: I can guarantee a very small percentage of this site would be able to physically handle the job I have now. I don't deliver packages yet. My sister does what you do, it is hard but not as hard as what I do. It may be mentally exhausting, but it's not nearly as physically exhausting as a labor job

yikes this post is so problematic. You do realize that some people can not get a job, it definitely varies by location. For instance, in the mid west you probably need to drive and go get a job, but you dont have money for a car and/or gas. Not every state has mass public transportation!! Also, to get a job (if you're not a college graduate) you need experience. Luckily, college students can get the experience through unpaid internships but do you think someone who is starving has the time to work for free? The biggest issue is that no one should be working 2 part time jobs just to be barely getting by.

@kevqn: You're just a Mailman daughter and work at something similar packing stuff lmfao. you dont work ''hard'' nor did your family ever.

So grow up and get your own life. If you truly worked hard and did something in life, you wouldn't care what others do.

PD. Im a medicine student and work part time in the hospital. You know... a real CAREER compared to a mailman who barely finished HS

@kevqn: Calling people retarded isn't going to get you anywhere, so just stop.

Secondly, either get a better paying job or quit your bitching. You're entitled to your opinion sure, but it's just what it is right now. There are things in the works to redefine the way welfare and food stamps work, it's a process. It's broken yes, but complaining on BASILMARKET will NOT help your cause. Go out and vote. And I don't mean every 4 years. Vote for your midterms, vote for your mayor, city counsel, governor, etc... That's how you get things you dislike about this country changed.

If you're too lazy to even do that, well then just be quiet and deal with it.

The grocery store I work at is always hiring.
They want to promote me and two other courtesy clerks (baggers) to produce or grocery (stockers) over the summer, but I like the front end.
So come take one of those positions.

@andreaverilia: You're retarded. First of all, they're not coupons, it's like a debit card and you're not restricted to any food. You don't see the problem?.. Let me give you an example, I'm 22 years old and I work really hard and I earn the money I make. Take another 22 year old that barely works (because he doesn't want to) and gets free food. How is that fair? You wouldn't understand because you're probably some little kid that works 20 hours a week at a supermarket. You have to look at it from an adult's view that works a career everyday and a big chunk of the country is mooching off the taxes you pay.

You must be dumb, that's something clear but.

A thousand lbs of food is wasted because there is more food to sell than what we can eat.

Those coupons are definitely not meant for luxury top tier food.

I don't see the problem.

@crispychream: But when I'm working, I'm making a lot of money and can buy a nice house, when you're on food stamps you're poor. I'd rather live a rich-middle class life than a very poor one. Also, the chance of me getting fired is extremely low because I'm in a union and I'd have to do something retarded to get fired.

@shamieekill: That's what a roommate is for. Picking up the slack. People with kids know all about the burden of carrying someone else's stress. do you even know how much 800$ worth of corn dogs is? Or 800$ worth lasagna Mac & cheese? When one family gets 800 a month & another gets 300. The partners don't have to work as hard. Ya & wtf? 1000 after taxes? Hook me up home boy.

@xdarkshynobi: 5 kids? I feel bad for the kids tbh.
And barely 800 every 2 weeks? The full time workers at the fast food place I work at make AT LEAST 1000 every two weeks. He's doing something wrong or he needs to try to find another job

My brothers girlfriend gets 800$ of food stamp & he makes barely 800 every 2 weeks with 5 kids.

They are never hungry & life is so easy for them. Kids make life so much easier.

Well, we can try to imagine what would happen if we stopped giving food stamps to those people. They're certainly not going to just lie down and starve to death. They're gonna have to get food somehow, whether it's through waking up and actually getting a job, or through stealing/begging/whatever. And there will be a cost on society related to that.

So...is it cheaper to give them food stamps, or is it cheaper to let them handle the food issue on their own? Or are there more cost-efficient alternatives to food stamps? I personally have no clue, since I haven't studied this stuff, but I think they're reasonable concerns.

dont be so ignorant. god does not allow abortions. so if a female happens to get pregnant (its not always their fault) then she has to live with it.

@crispychream: Yeah I would, but if I had the choice of working and earning everything or being poor and hurt my pride by using food stamps, I'd rather work
