Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night - Must Watch - F/sn Season 2 soon

Warning: Wall of text, Anime introduction.

With Fate/Stay Night's season 2 coming out this month I figured I'd see if I could introduce some people to two of the best animes I've looked at in recent times. It would also be fun to see if there's any other TYPE/MOON fans out there.

Fate Stay/Night (2014 Unlimited Blade Works remake) is as said right there. A remake of the 2006 (crappy) version and an action anime based around 7 mages in current era summoning 7 servants from fable and history under the role of 7 classes (similar to an RPG) to fight alongside them in a battle royale for the Holy Grail.

(The classes are Lancer, Saber, Archer, Berserker, Caster, Assassin and Rider. With each summoned servant requiring to be the class that fits them best from their fable or past, and no. This isn't a spoiler. This is pretty much explained right from the get-go whichever anime you watch first.)

Fate/Zero chronologically happens before Fate/Stay Night but was released after the 2006 version to explain the events 10 years prior to the Grail War in Fate/Stay Night. If you intend to watch them, start with Fate/Stay Night to avoid extreme spoilers and plot twists being ruined, as Fate/Zero expects you to know everything from Fate/Stay Night. (But DON'T watch the 2006 version. Watch the 2014 version that is getting it's 2nd season this month)

Fate/Zero is what I'd say fits the genre of Dark/Emotional. Compared to Fate/Stay Night it's incredibly more brutal and makes you leave with an empty feeling, but oh so satisfying and memorable. Unlike Fate/Stay Night who focuses more on the action, this one is heavily revolving around the plot and characters. Making it a far better experience (personally) of the two, but neither is anything to sneeze at.

Another thing of note is that while the main cast is mostly teens in F/SN as with most animes, F/Z is just about adults only, which adds a lot to the tone, seriousness and epicness in my opinion.

If you want two pretty awesome AMVs as a motivational boost to consider watching them, I suggest youtubing "Salvation of Kiritsugu AMV" (By far one of the better AMVs I've seen in general, works good as a trailer in many cases.) and "Fate/Stay Night - SKIN #2 AMV" -- Do note that both of these contain HUGE amount of spoilers, so be extremely careful.

---------------------------------------------------------

With that said, anyone else hyped for season 2 of Fate/Stay Night, or am I alone on this? I'm fine with it either way, might as well introduce more to the loving embrace yeah?
Fate/Stay UBW is not a remake of the 2006 version. The 2006 version followed the Fate route of the visual novel while the Unlimited Blade Works that is going to air is following the Unlimited Blades Works route. I guess you can call it crappy since the 2006 version had some other details from the different routes thrown in, but whatever. Ufotable is also making movies based on the third route, Heaven's Feel.
It's sloppy, but I decided to call it a remake since we're talking an introduction here. It'd only get confusing trying to explain routes. But yes, Heaven's Feel is also looking great. Though, I would call it crappy because of it's poor budget. Even for 2006, the animation quality was very low and closer to a year 2000 anime.
only 6 servants? guess you're saying screw rider huh?
Yeah sorry, I'm editing that now. No idea why I thought it was 6 when I know full well it's 7. I think it was because I was subconciously subtracting the Avenger class when writing it.
lol I thought it wasn't supposed to get a second season. Who cares though I enjoyed it <3 <3
I don't know where you heard that as the final episode of S1 (Ep.13) had not only a trailer for it, but also ended with the message "Season 2 - April - 2015"
Ehhh kinda. I don't really remember what happened at the end of S1 anymore, so I'm not that hyped
The CG and animations are pretty cool though, so that's something to look forward toward. The lancer and archer graphics <3
I would consider looking back up. Most introductory sequences are over so it's about to pick-up pace hardcore, it will be confusing for you if you literally can't remember what's going on. xD
I'm definitely hyped. I don't want to only known Shirou as a beyond altruistic sexist.
Ditto. Though I think I'm more hyped to see how well they can execute the fights from this point onward. With all the character / most of the master introductions over with, the anime can finally pick up the pace and show action from everyone. But the character development in S1 was pretty lacking, it showed many characters only from their worst side. So that is definitely something I want straightened out as well.
