Is there any way to remove that screen-covering animation? I keep dying in magnus/gollux because of it.

Right. But at least I'll know which direction to move in for both gollux and magnuS. The extra second is crucial for a choice of Shadow illusion or backstep, tbh.
Even if you do cancel it somehow, I think you're still stuck there not able to do anything until the skill cast is over, cause I always try using shadow illusion right after to stack the buffs together but there's always a significant delay.
