recommend me a laptop/desktop

so i decided to trash the idea of building my own computer since my brother does not support it greatly.

i'm looking for a laptop/desktop that can play games like team fortress 2, left 4 dead, and possibly battlefield bad company 2 on med~high settings with at least over 30 fps. my budget is $500~$650.

Opinions are opinions. There's nothing wrong with having them. It's once that you try to put off your opinion as a fact that can make it wrong. Just because you had a HP laptop that went bad due to an unknown cause doesn't make it a bad company as you making it out to be.
About BFBC2... keep an eye out on Steam these few days. Big sales again and you might be able to snag BFBC2 for $7 again
that's exactly what i'm doing atm.
i've had 2 hp laptops and they died after 1~2 years. now i have an asus laptop that's on it's 3rd year and is still running like a fine beast. you're welcome.
Ah yes, so because YOU had bad experiences with them, they must be bad, of course, were comparing that to the MILLIONS of customers who are happy with their HP. Go figure right?
rofl, hp laptops are a joke.
Really? I always wondered why HP has sold the most laptops year after year for the better part of the last decade. Thank you.

And I've heard bad reviews on playing cards. Always take internet customer reviews with a grain of salt; while usually generally accurate, they may not portray the entire customer base as most people that buy stuff online don't even bother leaving a review :x

The b53j-c1b is a nice drop off from a price standpoint, but the actual specs imply that you won't be playing much modern higher-end stuff with that HD5450. The Envy is still your best bet from a a specifications standpoint; from a manufacturer's standpoint, I would have to say HP is more or less average. There's a old HP desktop from like 2004 in the garage that, while is not in use (obviously), is certainly usable as far as the core functions of a PC is concerned.

Also, interestingly enough, I have a couple playlists on YouTube highlighting the performance of both the HD4570 (essentially the HD5450, but is Dx10 instead of Dx11 and slightly faster) and the HD5650. Granted, it may be mostly on free games, but it should still give you something to reference to as far as performance is concerned.
BFBC2 will falter under all integrated solutions. The Asus from TigerDirect would be able to play it, though my laptop uses an i3 (roughly the same as the i5 on that) and the HD5650 (quite better than the HD5450) and I average 20~25fps on dusty maps :x

The HP Envy would be the best option if you want to run BFBC2 from those four.
which laptop is better overall? i don't even have bfbc2 yet and i probably won't be able to get it in the future.
but dear god, the asus b53j-c1b is only $550 while the original price is $999 which sounds highly intriguing.

and plus, i've heard many bad reviews on hp laptops, something about them overheating quite often and having many hard drive failures after 1 year.

ok so i browsed through all of the laptops in the newegg website and these 3 seemed to appeal to me the most

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215085
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230067
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834157986

but the problem is, they're all above $600, which i'll find very heartbreaking when i buy it.

edit: is the intel hd 3000 a good enough graphics card for battlefield bad company 2? i know for sure it's good for team fortress 2 because i had a friend confirm it for me.

edit2: oh and are there anymore sites like newegg? i know about tigerdirect already (i'm actually on the site browsing for laptops as i'm writing this.)

edit3: oh how about this? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=668360&CatId=4939

The GPU is definitely powerful enough, but the Core 2 Duo means that you'll be having a rough time during the more intensive moments in BFBC2 due to the thread limitation.
