Are any game systems actually worth buying anymore?

i feel like every game that's coming out, or has come out recently has sucked compared to older games, but i kind of want to buy a PSP or a 3DS...
is it worth it at all?
can I just pop in here and say that I'm mindblown that for once people are talking about nintendo and not sony or microsoft? or how much "nintendo sucks" or whatnot?
I'm pretty sure it's because the focus of Nintendo is on the 3DS....if the thread was about the Wii...oh man...
Resident Evil: Revelations and Mercenaries, Starfox 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart, and Super Mario 3D Land.
OH and Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance.

the Wii U is either going to be excellent or just fall flat on its face, i'll be buying it either way but i'm apprehensive about the game lineup as it currently stands

there are plenty of good 3DS games and i'm probably going to miss some but here's a list as far as my brain can recall:
Kid Icarus: Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 7, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Star Fox 64 3D, Super Mario 3D Land, not to mention some of the recently-released DS games (such as Pokémon Black 2/White 2) which are also still playable on a 3DS. very worthwhile investment imo, this isn't even considering the upcoming gems
ALRIGHT well i just bought the pink & white limited edition one from gilt because it's the only pretty 3DS esp the XL tbh so thank you guise as well as everyone else for convincing me to get it ahahhaha. it should be here in a couple weeks.

i mean really after looking up all of the other systems/current games the 3DS just generally beats them all out of the park.

it's kind of sad that none of the other platformers have like...any decent games anymore sigh

well you're trying to decide between two of the better systems
3DS is only going to get more games (i could put together a list of games), plus you've got access to the huge number of good DS games as well. you're going to run around $170~200 for the system alone though. the PSP is obviously on the way out so it and any games will be pretty cheap. i'm not sure just how good the library is for US gamers though...you'll definitely have access to a lot of good ports of RPGs at the least.

I'm weighing up between a Wii U or 3DS. If I'm to get a PS3, I'd probably go for a preowned original version to play my PS2 games.
yeah the Wii U to me looks sort of odd tho.... i mean idk
the things i've seen of it i'm like 'o wow super cool kinda' but for the most part it just seems very much like a novelty
3DS is shaping up to be very exciting in the coming year and i'm silently hopeful that the Wii U does well but i'm less confident about that one

i mean there have been some pretty okay games this year (speaking solely from a Nintendo perspective), but yeah you might get better mileage out of just emulating older games, really depends what you're into
The 3DS has time and time again shown its worth to me. The Vita on the other hand, continues to disappoint. This is coming from a person that has 24/7 access to a 3DS (it's my brothers and I don't own my own games for it) but doesn't have a Vita. I'd also like to point out that I love my PS3, but I hate my Wii. So I'm not really a fanboy for either.

Regardless, the 3DS is looking to be a very good investment (for me) because of past titles, and upcoming ones.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor - These games are freaking sweet and I can honestly say they've become one of my favorites. SMT 1&2 are for the DS but they rereleased 1 with some added content on the 3DS called SMT: DS Overclocked.

Fire Emblem Awakening - What's not to like about FE?

Paper Mario Sticker Star - I had a blast with the PM on N64 so I'd be willing to give SS a shot.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy - Looks to be a sweet game. No word of localization but still...

Harvest Moon/Rune Factory - (Loved HM on my GC so I'd totally be willing to fire it up on my 3DS).

So basically that's like 5 titles I want on a 3DS. Three of which are out, one of which will be soon, and one of which hasn't been confirmed for localization. That's pretty good to me. Of course there's things like Ocarina of Time, Animal Crossing and probably much more that I haven't named. I think the 3DS is worth the buy. (I'm just waiting till' my birthday in the summer). The PSP also seems to full stocked in terms of RPG's (the only games I really like to play on handhelds). The Vita on the otherhand has...P4G. That's like it?

My 2cents. -shrug-

@Cbass50:

An emulator normally refers to software that imitates a game console using a separate machine as its operating device.

A "Wii emulator" would be something I could install into my computer and play Wii games without spending money on an actual Wii.
There are products out there that sync console controllers onto your computer, and there are websites out there who sell game files to be read by the computer.
Most emulators are free, but major consoles [Wii, PS3, XBox] require a good CPU and decent video cards.
I just install emulators onto my computer.

I have a Wii emulator called "Dolphin" and it plays roms well.
You can use a controller but you'll need to buy a bluetooth adapter or a USB compatible sensor bar [the latter is only $25 on amazon... the former is like $0.80]
eh wii games kind of suck though i had one and i only played animal crossing city folk lolo
The quality has dropped MASSIVELY. I'm sure you haven't played most of the older gems since you're a teenager. Look them up and emulate them.
i'm 21 and have been playing vidya since i was 4......
3DS is kind of short on games right now. Later on though, oh my god.
