How to go about scrolling

Hello friends.

Recently, I have picked up a nicely potted but clean crossbow (164 att clean), and I was wondering the most cost-efficient way to go about scrolling it. My goal is just to get it over 300 attack, which if my math is right, should be attainable with just using the 30% spell traces then star forcing it the rest (and it should hit 300+ attack by the 10th enhancement). I was wondering if this was the most cost-efficient way to go about this. While doing the math I came to the conclusion that doing this would yield me to spend about 4B on CSS's. Below is my math, maybe there is something I'm missing in the process, if you feel like looking at it.
Lets assume [1 / %rate] is the average number of scrolls I should expect need to pass something.

That means, on average, for 10 slots, I should expect to need 3 scrolls to pass per slot.
This also means that for 10 slots, I would need 30 scrolls in total.
This means 20 of them would fail since 10 of them would pass.
For 20 of them to fail, I have to restore those 20 slots.

Clean Slates in Broa go for about ~20m in Broa.
On average, I would expect to need 10 CSS per slot, meaning ~200m per failure.
There will be an expected 20 failure in this process.
Does this mean I must spend ~4B in total on CSS?
Is there a more cost-efficient way to get this to 300 attack? Are the sucess rate of CSS's and spell traces affected by diligence and guild skills? Are there things in the reward shop that could save me mesos? I'd prefer not to spend my anniversary coins, but are there things there that could help (excluding primes, I do not want to go through the process of prime scrolling this)?

Wait for a spell trace event so that the 30% becomes a 45% chance. coupled with 4% from guild and 10% from diligence. it should come to 59% success assuming guild and diligence increase success rate additionally.

there's a limit to buying shield scrolls? that kinda sucks...

@bloodIsShed: Yeah, I'm basing it off expected value for each slot recovered, I would need 10, but I expect in total, I would have to recover 20 slots. And I probably will using shield scrolls from the Reward Store, but those are limited to only 2 per month, but I don't know if that works with spell-traces.

"On average, I would expect to need 10 CSS per slot, meaning ~200m per failure."
The problem here, is that it assumes that you only need to pass a CSS once.
If a scroll only works 30% of the time, you'd probably need to pass CSS twice or more.
Even during spell fever, in which the 30% becomes 45%, the assumption that only 1 successfull CSS is required per slot is a bit optimistic assumption.
Maybe using the shield scroll from CS is more cost-effective? The one in which you spend 2800 reward points. Assuming, ofc, it works with spell-trace scrolling.
