Demonavenger

DAs reboot.

How's reboot treating all of you?
Personally, I was little peeved cause I had just managed to cross the 1m range and then *bam*. But obviously happy with the buff and flexibility of exceed skills.

@frizzlexd so true, playing either a demon avenger or a demon slayer can get really annoying because of all the noise. if i have to hear another person shout booster as though they are constipated, i'll freak out

@fafetico: idk people like the male VA but hearing "execution" and stuff every 2 seconds annoys me too much so i mute it also.

Just want to say that this thread really helped me understand the class a little better and how I could work on equips to make it stronger. (Huge thanks to @aerlithia for that =)

I am playing reboot server after a long break from maple. I leveled a WH to 160 and although it really seems to be great at dealing damage, it is too squishy for me...
The thing that thrown me out of DA before was (believe me) the voice acting, but then I found you can mute it and gave it a try... Boy, this class is fun!

@aerlitha, thanks so much for that list of upgrades. It'll help a lot as I try to gear up my DA in Reboot. Can't wait to start!

Things look really neat! I think the Hyper Stat update compensates quite a bit of the formula adjustment and the hard HP cap being removed is just icing on the cake for anyone who can benefit from it. There's a lot more fluidity now that Exceed skills no longer reset when switching in between but I can't help but miss the 6-mob count for Execution.

Im a 2 year da main. I love the revamp. Better mobbing and stronger Execution. Overall gameplay is so much better and also very fun not having to charge skills.

@arash

+ kaiser link skill
+ cannonner link skill
+ dark knight character card
+ boss soul: Ephrenia (i forgot her name spelling, but the corrupted fairy queen of elin forest)
+ decent hyper body (i have one on unique pants, lv150)
+ boss accessory set gives %hp bonuses at 3 and 5 pieces
+ rex's perfect earrings give 10% hp as an item stat in addition to coming already with 3 lines of rare potential
+ chaos zakum helm gives 10% hp
+ chaos horntail pendant gives 10% hp
+ gollux sets normally conflicts with rex earrings, but in Reboot we can easily get second pendant slot. Probably a good idea to use a second pendant to replace the earring. Normal classes use pendant to replace the belt so they can wear a tyrant belt. But DA does not benefit as much from superior equips for the effort it takes to make high quality so I usually opt out for more cost effective options.

these are things off the top of my head i'm aware of, and I feel like in Reboot most of these are either easily accessible or can be achieved with some decent effort. Good luck!

Thanks for the in depth answers. I'm a fan of the removal of damage fluctuation based on health. I think it's justified that the max damage possible was reduced slightly in exchange for consistency.

As for the funding DA in Reboot, I hope we'll get to a point in the server soon enough that we'll be able to get RA/gollux sets so I can get that 10% HP bonus . I can still get the link skills in the meantime

@aerlithia She sure knows what she is talking about.

@arash basically what happened was that DA damage used to be scaled off our ACTUAL hp, so when we started losing hp due to skills or being hit, our range also dropped (as far as 70% of our potential range). In addition, because HP was capped at 500k, our actual hp never went above that number so once we hit 500k hp no hp increasing skills, equips, or items would help our range no matter what.

The new system now instead uses our hp stat instead of our actual hp to calculate range, and also accounts for ALL the hp stat that we actually have as our character including all skills and equip and items EVEN IF the resulting hp for our character breaks the 500k hp cap.

This means that we could have a hp stat for like say 800k hp, but our character still only has 500k hp because of the hp cap, but the game now uses the 800k hp stat to calculate our damage.

This also means that our range no longer fluctuates up and down with our characters' hp when we use skills or get hit. However, to compensate for that, the formula used to calculate our range from hp as a stat has been adjusted so that we only get around 85% (?) of the damage we used to get from the original formula. Basically more consistent damage from the "average" of the previous formula.

So there wasn't a really explicit nerf or buff for DA, just a major system rework.

Unless you were superfunded enough to break past the HP cap, then in that case this is a huge buff for you.

@arash The flat hp given by Diabolic recovery reduced from 40% to 25%. So yes your damage range decreased significantly.
Execution decreased from 620% to 475% so you are hitting 145% less per line however the number of hits has been increased from 4 to 6. Overall, dps and flexibility of DA has increased. So no complains.

Playing in reboot however, you should know that the "ease" of funding DAs came from the fact that set bonuses gave % hp and kaiser + canonner linked skills. In reboot such bonuses might be difficult to attain. So you don't really have a edge anymore except maybe for the fact that you can't really be killed.

I just started playing demon avenger after reboot. Other than the execution mob hit count being lowered, I read somewhere that the damage output got reduced, or at least the damage range dropped quite a bit. For those that played DA before and after reboot, is the damage output significantly lower? I know they count HP past 500k in the damage formula now, but I'm more concerned with less than 500k since I'm playing on the Reboot server.

It's awesome. The sheer base power of a DA makes it very fun : D

no real complaints from me, I think the balancing makes DA overall much more enjoyable to play especially being able to switch between exceed skills at will. (I really love my new mobility with demon strike)

the only thing I miss is 6-mobbing execution... i was spoiled by it! but I definitely understand the change.
